Macy and Ethan’s winter wedding was dressed up and wrapped up like a beautiful black and white gift with touches of gold bows. Her vision along with planners, Nashville Dream Events’ team for her winter wedding gives a refreshing insight into how to utilize Christmas and Winter in a new light when your wedding is in the chill of January in Tennessee. There was not a Poinsettia or Holly Berry in sight; in place of those were Magnolia leaf touches along with white birch branches and baby blue eucalyptus centerpieces. Macy and Ethan also opted out of having a standard tablecloth tables and instead had stunning wooden tables with marble tops with circle back chiavari chairs, truly stunning! You have to check out their wedding venue at The Monarch in Baxter, TN.

Who was a part of your wedding team?
Bride, Macy: We had all of our closest friends from all stages of life to help us celebrate the day.
How did you guys meet?
Bride, Macy: Ethan and I met through mutual friends on social media, we started “talking” when we were both in college. I was at UT Knoxville and he was at Tennessee Tech. We had talked and hung out with each other on and off for a year. We had just decided to be friends and go our own ways because neither of us really wanted a serious relationship at the time. We were still young and enjoying the college life. We didn’t speak for 5 years, and both dated other people. One day I get a notification on my phone and Ethan had messaged me. We went on a double date with his sister and brother-in-law that next weekend and the rest is history. We both knew after that night that it was meant to be, it was easy and effortless.
Tell us about your engagement!
Bride, Macy: We got engaged on Easter 2022, which was his late grandfather’s birthday. He had had the ring for a month but wanted to wait for the right time to pop the question. We were getting family pictures made that afternoon with his family, we were on our way to his parent’s house when his mom called us and said she needed us to run to the store for her before we got to the house. Little did I know, this was the plan to get my family over to their house to surprise me after the proposal. I had absolutely no idea, we get to his parents house, Ethan and I go first to take a picture out in the front yard, his mom tells me to step up to her so she can fix my hair. She “fixes it” and I turned around to see Ethan down on his knee and my family standing up on the porch behind him. Instant tears, it was the sweetest moment.
What was the vision for your wedding?
Bride, Macy: I wanted a “Winter Wonderland” wedding. I wanted trees, everything white and black with pops of gold. It was such a dream what my final decor ended up looking like.
What was your theme and what inspired it?
Bride, Macy: White, Winter Wonderland was the theme we went with but keeping it very elegant and classy all at the same time.
What details were used to create your theme?
Bride, Macy: I wanted everything white. My decorator was amazing, he is a close family friend and decorates for my Nana’s business so I was familiar with his work. I told him my vision and then he added to my vision and I trusted him fully. He brought it all to life more than I could ever imagine. It was a dream.
Where did you splurge? Where did you save/DIY?
Bride, Macy: I splurged on photography, and food. The photographer was amazing and I knew from the time I got engaged I wanted her, her photos/ editing was exactly what I wanted. The food my mom wanted to make sure was a splurge. We had lots of people coming to this wedding, we had to make sure the food was something to talk about. I didn’t get to eat it at the wedding but I ate it that night when I got home and it was definitely delicious.
What words of advice do you have for couples in the midst of their planning?
Bride, Macy: For the Brides I would say, make sure it’s what you want. This is your day, not anyone else’s but YOURS. Take a breath, stay calm, and enjoy this because it is fun. To the Groom’s, be supportive of the Bride. This is a stressful and important time for her. If she asks your opinion on if you like something, it’s for a reason and she really does care what you want too. Enjoy this time and make it what you want it to be.
Can you share any special moments or highlights from your wedding day?
Bride, Macy: Honestly, everything. It was just a happy and sentimental day for me so everything was so special.
