Tell us about your company + how long you’ve been in business.

Morgan: Curtsy Ballroom is a dance studio specializing in wedding and couples dancing. We have been in business since January 2023!

How did you get started in weddings?

Morgan: A couple reached out to me on Thumbtack and asked if I could choreograph their wedding dance! It was a challenge! But I did my research and their dance was absolutely amazing. They even invited me to their wedding!!

What’s the philosophy behind your company?

Morgan: To not only teach dance steps but to create teamwork between each couple and build memories throughout each practice. Dance is the biggest uniter and I love seeing my clients begin to infuse their love into their routines over time.

What are your strengths compared to other dance companies?

Morgan: I do a few things differently from other wedding dance companies. As part of their wedding gift, I edit a video of each couple from their first lesson to their wedding day. It is a virtual reminder of how far they’ve come and how proud they should be of themselves. I also choreograph multiple iterations of the dance to tailor it directly to the couple to bring out both of their personalities. Lastly, I choreograph around the dress! If a bride has a ballgown, I make sure to involve a lot of spins and twirls. If she is wearing a mermaid gown, I choreograph a lot of dips to show her beautiful train. I’ve worked with videographers and photographers in the past and that gave me great insight on how to choreograph the dance so that they capture the perfect angles. This makes a world of difference in their wedding photos!

What attracts couples to Curtsy Ballroom?

Morgan: A lot of my clients walk in as clients and leave as friends. They enjoy that I am personable and bubbly, but also very knowledgeable about my craft, being a competitive ballroom dancer for nine years. I talk a lot in my sessions to make sure that their dance perfectly suits their song and personalities to create a dance that is uniquely for them. My customers also appreciate my professionalism, patience, and understanding.

What is the most innovative new product, service, style or other aspect of your industry that brides and grooms might appreciate?

Morgan: I have implemented a new type of dance called Foxy into my repertoire. It is a dance that can be danced to pretty much any kind of music. It is also perfect for non-dancers. Foxy is a slow and sensual dance that I always say allows couples to whisper sweet-nothings to each other while dancing, allowing them private moments during a very public spectacle! I have also begun wedding group classes for those who do not want to break the bank, but still want an elegant wedding dance. My group classes begin in January and are half the price of my private wedding lessons.

Is there anything else you’d like to share about your company?

Morgan: I love what I do and making couples smile because they love their dance warms my heart.

Thank you so much Morgan for the interview! You instill confidence in all the couples you help teach and that shows. If you’re looking for a way to “wow” your guests in a new and different way, take our advice and reach out to Morgan with Curtsy Ballroom today!
