Dreaming of simpler times? How about a sense of wander? Today’s feature is combining the best of both! Soiree on the Square set the scene for this travel photo shoot by Photo and Film by LuAnn that carries an old-time feel with a modern twist. Memorabilia including vinyl Elvis records along with vintage decor takes us back to the good old days, with pampas grass, velvet tuxedos, and interior decor bringing the modern twist. The inspiration for this shoot is so pure and has our hearts full. Enjoy this old-meets-new styled shoot below!
Tell us about the shoot vision.
LuAnn: The vision was to bring the viewer back to a simpler time. With all of the chaos going on in 2020 due to Covid and having the travel bans in place, we thought it would be an interesting vibe to take the viewer back in time when travel in America was only by train. Bringing a modern day look to it, we went with a black hat for the bride, along with a simple classic cathedral veil. The owner of the venue is an Elvis fan, so we enjoyed adding that to some of our photos.
What was the theme and what inspired it?
LuAnn: The theme was travel back in time. Inspired by the early 1900’s to 1950’s when many brides would marry and travel West with their husband to begin a new life of hope and dreams. We also wanted to add a modern twist with a bit of funk to it to make it relatable in 2020. We went with the black hat, along with a timeless, classic dress and a cathedral veil that was simple and elegant. The grooms tux had a velvet jacket and the emerald green and gold accents added a sense of nature and elegance. The vintage record store was a perfect stop as the groom is a musician in real life, which made it personal and fun.
What details were used to create the theme?
LuAnn: Green and gold was the overall color scheme. Candelabras, candle light, exposed brick, floral vines were all used to create an elegant, but nature inspired feel.
Can you share any special moments or highlights of the day?
LuAnn: Working with a couple who have been married over 10 years and seeing him in awe of how beautiful his wife was and how much in love with one another they are was inspiring. The record store was not planned, but when we walked by, we knew we had to use it and the owner was gracious in allowing us to do so.
Were there any special requests or unique challenges that you had to work together to overcome?
LuAnn: The obvious challenge was Covid. We had to reschedule the shoot 2 times.
