Tell us about your engagement!
Callie: It was early November & we were preparing for our first holiday season in our new home. We took a Friday off work to go shopping & have a day date in downtown Franklin (or so I thought). We had brunch & walked around downtown before sitting on a bench to chat, take selfies, and to my surprise – GET ENGAGED! We were sitting there & suddenly he got down on one knee. We both cried, and some sweet tourists got photos of the whole thing. We had been dating for 6+ years at that point & knew we were getting married one day, but I had no idea he even had a ring or that it was happening soon. The only other person in our lives who knew was his brother Dylan, who went with him to pick out the rings. It was a perfect day! We were engaged for 1.5 years & we loved our fiancé era! We had a lovely engagement party at my mom’s house & our friends showered us with lots of love, including bachelor & bachelorette parties out of state!
What was the vision for your wedding?
Callie: We wanted it to be a celebration of our love & partnership. I wanted simple, timeless, classic vibes with neutral tones. The most important aspects to us were that our guests had a great time, the food was good, and drinks flowing.
What was your theme and what inspired it?
Callie: The theme was ‘garden party’, with bright colors, fun prints, and hats / fascinators encouraged! It was really important for us that our dog, Honey, be included in the wedding – yes, she walked down the aisle – and so we had a “Honey” theme throughout with honey favors, stickers, a bourbon & honey signature cocktail, special his & hers coffee drinks with honey, and other honey accents.
Can you share any special moments or highlights from your wedding day?
Callie: I was surprised the morning of the wedding when Jordan came into the bridal suite to give me a gift. He got pearl earrings & a necklace that I ended up wearing on the day. It was a coincidence because that morning I still was unsure what jewelry I was going to wear that day. What he got me was perfect. We took a moment together before all the craziness got started. Our first dance was also a special moment. We took lessons & had SO MUCH FUN doing that, and to surprise our guests with a routine that we were confident about was just the cherry on top of a perfect day! We had a great time with that and it turned out to be so fun!
What are some tips you can share with other couples planning their weddings?
Callie: Try to stay in the moment & be grateful for this era, despite how stressful it may become. Planning can be really stressful & feel overwhelming. But it is temporary & fleeting, and will be a past memory before you know it. Prioritize yourself & your fiancé during this time and remember, this is YOUR WEDDING DAY – Make it about what YOU want! If you can afford at least a day-of planner, hire them! It was SO HELPFUL to have planning help!!! Also having a maid of honor / bridesmaids by your side who are truly there to help & support you makes all the difference. I would also recommend dance lessons if you’re planning to do a first dance.
Is there anything else you’d like to share about your wedding?
Callie: We were so blessed to be surrounded by so much love and support on our wedding day. We felt the love from all of our guests & it was magical!!! We were so grateful to be able to celebrate with everyone & begin our lives as a married couple in such a beautiful way!
