How did you guys meet?
Allison: We met on Hinge! We hit it off immediately and our first date (which was supposed to just be a lunch date) ended up lasting 8 hours. The conversation never stopped as we bar hopped around Germantown, which is one of our favorite neighborhoods to hang out in to this day!
Tell us about your engagement!
Allison: Jay and I are both huge college football fans, Auburn for him, Ohio State for me. We love going down to Auburn for game day to tailgate with his family and in October 2023 we did just that! It was a late afternoon kickoff that day so we decided to take a hike down to a waterfall at Chewacla State Park, right around the corner from Auburn’s campus. When we got to the base of the waterfall, Jay got down on one knee and proposed. Little did I know that both of our families were hiding nearby, including my parents from Ohio and my brother and his wife from Colorado. We spent the rest of the day celebrating with all of our favorite people with breakfast, tailgating, and an Auburn football win!

What was the vision for your wedding?
Allison: A simple, classic, heartfelt ceremony with a big, wild party to cap off the day!
What was your theme and what inspired it?
Allison: We wanted a black and white theme with minimal florals. We wanted more greenery and lots of candles.
Where did you splurge? Where did you save/DIY?
Allison: We splurged on our venue (Clementine Hall is incredible!!) and catering from Chef’s Market. The ambiance at Clementine Hall speaks for itself and we are big foodies so having an amazing meal was super important for us. We opted for an assortment of heavy apps and it was the best decision! Our guests had so many compliments and left very full. We saved on florals and decorations. We wanted the vibe to be simple and elegant and with such an incredible venue we really didn’t have to do much to dress it up. Our florist, Anna Dux with The Laughing Petal, did such an amazing job bringing our vision to life with lots of greenery with small pops of florals. Additionally, our Wedding Planner Christine had an amazing selection of candles for us that really elevated the room and gave us the exact vibe we were looking for without the hefty price tag for decor.

What words of advice do you have for couples in the midst of their planning?
Allison: If you haven’t hired a wedding planner yet definitely do so!
Can you share any special moments or highlights from your wedding day?
Allison: The ceremony exceeded our expectations, the music we chose filled the space perfectly, our very good friend who married us did an amazing job, and looking out at our family and friends right before our vow was perfect. Another highlight was the dance floor! DJ Russ Pollard was amazing and kept the dance floor full. He even let me get on the mic to rap a verse of one of our favorite songs!
Is there anything else you’d like to share about your wedding?
Allison: It was the perfect day with the perfect combination of vendors! Special shoutout to our wedding planner Christine, you made it all happen!
