Cheerful colors and traditional elements were brought together for Kaitlin and Derrick’s sophisticated Cason’s Cove wedding. While the couple chose the location for a plan B option in case of rain, the sun was out and their outdoor wedding ceremony went off without a hitch! They even had a horse drawn carriage whisking them away before celebrating with friend and family at their reception. With twinkling lights and modern centerpieces mixed with vintage place settings from The Wedding Plate, their decor stood out in the best of ways with Photography by Janae there to capture it all! How did you guys meet?
Kaitlin: Went to high school together.
Tell us about your engagement!
Kaitlin: We got engaged on New Year’s Eve (12/31/2017) before going to Tennessee Titans game in Nashville!
What was the vision for your wedding?
Kaitlin: Outdoor wedding with an excellent Plan B option in case of rain; did not want a barn wedding. Cason’s Cove was the unique venue I was looking for and was perfect from every perspective. Also, we planned a formal wedding – black tuxes, long formal bridesmaid dresses, ball gown wedding dress with cathedral length veil.
What details were used to create your theme?
Kaitlin: Our color scheme was light blue and we used bright summer flowers with lots of peonies – my favorite flower! We added beautiful large hanging baby’s breath clouds (outdoor terrace) and provided handmade printed fans for guests during ceremony.
For the guest book – there were quilt squares for guests to sign and then hung each one on white ladders (will be used to create a newlywed quilt)! There were also large photos on standing easels, the dessert table on a hanging swing, welcome sign & chalkboard signs for day of event schedule, a menu with fresh peony sprays, double standing panes with photos of scripture reading done by our nephews during the ceremony and a Holy Bible that used belonged to our Great-Grandparents.
What words of advice do you have for couples in the midst of their planning?
Kaitlin: Allow plenty of time for planning. We booked our venue 10 months in advance and it was still difficult to book vendors and to confirm the wedding date that we wanted. Also, plan for the details.
Can you share any special moments or highlights from your wedding day?
Kaitlin: (In addition to everything above) Rose petals in cones were used for the sendoff (horse carriage) and Rev. Derrick Jowers, Lexington, TN officiated the ceremony June 15th wedding date special because it was my great-grandmother’s birthday!
Is there anything else you’d like to share about your wedding?
Kaitlin It couldn’t have been a more perfect wedding!
The blend of timeless elements with modern details is stunning! Thanks so much to The Wedding Plate and Kaitlin and Derrick for sharing their sophisticated Cason’s Cove wedding with us!
