In today’s episode of The Wedding Reporter Podcast, we dive into the engagement journey of singer-songwriter Morgan Myles and her fiancé, Taylor Place. It’s a love story filled with unexpected twists, humor, and a grand proposal. Here’s their story:

The Meet-Cute
Morgan Myles, a powerhouse vocalist with a five-octave range, has been capturing hearts on and off the stage, including Taylor Place’s. With over 100 shows a year and a top-three finish on The Voice in 2022, Morgan was no stranger to busy schedules. But her love story began in an almost serendipitous way, thanks to a mutual friend.
Taylor and Morgan were introduced through a friend in the music industry. Taylor recalls helping out with a project for one of Morgan’s booking agents, and from there, one thing led to another. “It was funny,” he shared, “We just started talking, and it all clicked.” But before they could even meet, Morgan’s protective friend, Jared, thoroughly vetted Taylor, ensuring he was the right fit.
Despite the long-distance relationship that followed, Morgan and Taylor found that the space only strengthened their bond. “People talk badly about long-distance, but I feel like it made our communication better,” Morgan said, reflecting on the early stages of their relationship. By New Year’s Eve, the two had decided to meet in person in Savannah, Georgia, marking the beginning of their official romance.

The Proposal
Taylor’s proposal plan was just as thoughtful and elaborate as their introduction. He knew early on that Morgan was “the one” but wanted the perfect ring for her. He worked with a family friend in the jewelry business to find the ideal diamond and ring design. When the diamond finally arrived, Taylor had only one week to plan the perfect proposal before he could no longer contain the secret.
The day of the proposal was filled with unexpected drama and humor. Morgan was coming off a busy recording session in LA and, to her surprise, was greeted by her parents upon landing, who insisted on taking her to a friend’s 50th birthday party. Morgan’s mother tried to keep her distracted, even suggesting she wear a particular dress. When they finally arrived at the house, there were no party guests—only Taylor standing in the backyard, surrounded by a balloon arch.
“I thought the house was burning down,” Morgan recounted, laughing about her initial confusion when she saw emergency vehicles in front of the house. But once she laid eyes on Taylor, she realized what was happening. Taylor was on one knee, asking her to marry him. “All I remember him saying was, ‘Will you?’” Morgan shared. Overwhelmed with emotion, she couldn’t stop asking, “Are we still going to the party?”

Wedding Planning and Future Goals
Now engaged, Morgan and Taylor have set their wedding date for October 18, 2025. They’ve already begun pre-wedding counseling with Morgan’s church in Nashville, where the ceremony will take place. The couple is excited to keep their wedding intimate, with a focus on family and meaningful traditions. Morgan’s great-uncle, Father Mike, will officiate the wedding, making it a deeply personal affair.
For the reception, they’ll celebrate on a lake, close to where Taylor proposed. Morgan envisions a warm, natural atmosphere with candles and Southern-style food, including mashed potatoes, a favorite of Taylor’s. With a color palette of blacks, taupes, browns, and copper, the couple plans to blend elegance with the relaxed beauty of the lakeside setting.
Morgan, no stranger to event planning, has found the process to be smooth so far. She jokes about her organized approach, already having checked off major items like the guest list, cake, and entertainment. “I’m used to putting on big events, so it hasn’t been overwhelming,” she says. However, the couple is most looking forward to their honeymoon, where they plan to take time to relax and fully enjoy each other’s company after all the planning is done.

Advice for Couples
As Morgan and Taylor prepare for their big day, they shared a piece of advice for other couples: “Be present,” Morgan emphasized. “Don’t get too caught up in the little details. At the end of the day, it’s about the experience and being with the ones you love.”
With a shared love for family, a grounded approach to life, and a strong sense of humor, Morgan Myles and Taylor Place are set to embark on a beautiful future together.
