Tell us about Inspired Help and how long you’ve been in business.
Melinda: Inspired Help was founded by Brittany Smith in 2013 with a vision to guide couples through the wedding planning process with ease. Now owner since 2020, Melinda Melton, follows the same vision ensuring no stone goes unturned. Inspired Help offers both Month-of Coordination and Partial Planning Packages crafted to fit the needs of those who may need a bit of guidance with execution on the day of AND those who need a little extra support while still staying involved from start to finished. Wherever our couples are in the process, Inspired Help is here to HELP!
How did you get started in weddings?
Melinda: Brittany Smith started Inspired Help after planning, designing and coordinating her own wedding in 2013 and truly embodying the “bride under the table” role. She quickly saw the benefit of hiring a wedding planner, and wanted to be that support for couples in the Nashville area. She quickly took me under her wing as a day of assistant before pushing me out of the nest just a few years later to coordinate on my own. Since 2015, I’ve coordinated over 100 weddings, managed 2 different event venues in Nashville, and planned numerous non-wedding related events including the annual Cumberland River Dragon Boat Festival! I jokingly (but also not) love to say, I live, breathe and eat events now!
What’s the philosophy behind Inspired Help?
Melinda: We are committed to guiding couples through the wedding planning process with ease and executing their vision with excellence to allow them the stress-free wedding day they deserve.
What are your strengths compared to other wedding planners?
Melinda: We start working with our couples from the moment they book with us, so they get the added bonus of having a personal wedding assistant to guide them along the way, whether that’s Month of Coordination or Partial Planning.
What attracts couples to Inspired Help?
Melinda: Not only do we come highly recommended from so many wonderful Friend-ors, but we have so many couples we meet with for the first time who appreciate our initial transparency (especially pricing) on our website. I believe it automatically gives them peace of mind when shopping around and thinking about what their budget should look like/where they can allocate!
What are some trends you’re seeing right now in your category of the wedding industry?
Melinda: Color! 2021 was the year of color for our couples. Our team has loved the creativity and freedom that couples are finding with color at their wedding. It can definitely be intimidating to incorporate multiple colors in your wedding day color scheme, especially thinking of the future and looking back at your photos.
Is there anything else you’d like to share about Inspired Help?
Melinda: I’ve often questioned why I enjoy weddings and events over the years. It certainly takes a certain type of personality to give up their nights and weekends to celebrate someone else’s big life moments while sometimes missing out on their own. A few years ago, while at a Preds game here in Nashville, I had the realization that that’s exactly why I love weddings and events. I have the opportunity to help create and witness memories that last a lifetime. A moment in time that will never be forgotten because it’s just that sweet, that special, that momentous of a moment. I’m entrusted for a brief moment of your life to share in a powerful, breathtaking moment you’ll never forget. Yes, this is my job. I get tired at the end of the night, my feet start to hurt, my back aches, but for a brief moment, I have the pleasure of witnessing your vulnerability, your joy, your laughter, your tears, and most importantly your love and acceptance of another human being. Your day is important to me, because it’s important to you. I want to be the load lifter on your wedding day, because you deserve this moment of feeling loved and cared for. We all do.
