The rain did not stop Matt + Marie from having the time of their lives during their wedding at Beechgrove Historic Venue! Despite the umbrella-filled crowd who gathered for an outdoor ceremony, their love was alive and well – you can feel it in the photos by Nashville wedding photographer Lion & Lark! The small intimate wedding left lots of room for meaningful speeches and even rounding out the night with a pickin’ party! See all of their day below!
From the photographer, Lion & Lark: The way Marie tells their love story is so sweet. It may not have been a story at all, except that she listened to a small voice inside that told her to stay instead of walking away from this chance encounter. Months later, she and Matt were planning a wedding despite each of their own busy careers in the music industry. They chose Beech Grove Historic Venue– a charming, wooded farm west of town as the setting for their rustic fall wedding. Marie was born and raised in Germany, so planning an American wedding was understandably overwhelming. Thankfully, she had Megan from Locklane Weddings & Events to guide her along the way.
From the photographer, Lion & Lark: The wedding day dawned warm for October, but the leaves were beginning to turn and the grey skies were all autumn. Much of Marie’s family had flown in from Germany to help with the preparations, and they were busy decorating when I arrived. A brief moment of sunshine let us capture some lovely first look photos before the clouds took over again- even drizzling during the outdoor ceremony- but I don’t think a downpour could have dampened anyone’s spirits that day. In one of the most touching moments, Matt’s daughter read a passage from Marie’s favorite book, “The Little Prince.”
From the photographer, Lion & Lark: Strings of lights, delicious barbecue, desserts made by Marie’s family, and heartwarming speeches rounded out the evening, with a truly Nashville-style picking party under the darkened sky to cap everything off.
