How did you guys meet?

Jennifer: Joel and I met through mutual friends and church. We became friends before we actually started dating, and for me, that made all the difference in how quickly I fell in love!

Tell us about your engagement!

Jennifer: Our engagement was definitely a surprise! We had talked about it a few months before, but I didn't know when or how he would propose. It's fun not to know! He planned a “date day” where he took me to brunch and walking downtown, and we ended up at park by the lake. He took me to the same bench we had sat on just 6 months before where he had asked if I would date him. My friends were hiding in the trees to capture it on camera, and after a brief speech he popped the question! The proposal is such a wonderfully, surreal experience! I am very thankful to have pictures of that special day!!

What was the vision for your wedding?

Jennifer: My vision for the wedding was a mix of elegant attire, soft colors, and candlelight. Nature makes me feel free and alive, so I knew I wanted to marry this man in an outdoor setting. Cedarwood had the perfect venue to fit my dream wedding!

What was your theme and what inspired it?

Jennifer: The theme for our wedding was rustic elegance. I love outdoor weddings but desired elegant attire to dress up our special occasion. We wore a tuxedo and an elegant, lace gown with the bridesmaids in a trio of soft colors to accent the outdoor greenery. I didn't have an exact vision for the wedding initially, but it came together one decision at a time… and the final result was picturesque!

What details were used to create your theme?

Jennifer: Flowers were a huge part of the decor. We used flowers to line the aisle, bring beautiful color to an arch at the alter, and even used flower petals to cover the aisle pathway. At the reception, the decor was soft white and mercury glass, so we used copious flowers and candles to accent each table.

Can you share any special moments or highlights from your wedding day?

Jennifer: Our first look was a very special moment of the day. The feelings in that moment are indescribable. I am traditional about many things, but I am glad I chose to see my groom before the ceremony. The photos we were able to get are priceless!

What are some tips you can share with other brides planning their weddings?

Jennifer: My advice would be to not stress about the timeline. I was only engaged 7 months and felt pressure to plan everything immediately, as if I was already behind! Take your time and make thoughtful decisions.. everything will work out just beautifully! I would also recommend having a wedding planner. It takes so much stress off of the bride and mom and allows you both to fully enjoy the day knowing everything is being taken care of!

And we'll seal off this week with a kiss! Thanks so much to Justin Wright for sharing the incredible photos with us and Jennifer for giving us the inside scoop on her wedding!
