Instant Dream Home’s Farmer Nick & Anna’s Wedding

Nick Cutsumpas—better known as the “plantrepreneur” and beloved plant coach—married Anna Dreslinski, a creative director with a background in opera, dance, and film, in a celebration that was anything but traditional. From sustainability to subway delays, their wedding journey was full of surprises, intention, and heartfelt meaning.

Nick and Anna’s love story began with a layover. While heading to Hawaii, Anna reached out to Nick during a stop in Los Angeles. What started as a friendly meetup quickly blossomed into collaboration, with Anna helping Nick prep for a TED Talk. Working together on creative projects—including Nick’s children’s show—eventually led them to fall in love.

After living in LA, the couple bought a dream home in Michigan, close to Anna’s family. In just six months, they navigated IVF, moved into their new home, and planned their wedding—proving their teamwork and tenacity. “It’s been quite the experience,” Nick shared.

Though Anna suspected a proposal might happen during a trip to Greece, Nick surprised her earlier—on a secluded beach in Kauai. In true rom-com fashion, a naked man with a conch shell briefly interrupted the moment, but Nick persevered. “He got down on one knee, and I was shocked,” Anna recalled.

For Nick and Anna, sustainability wasn’t just a theme—it was the foundation of their wedding. “We didn’t do cut flowers, we didn’t serve meat, and we tried to keep everything as eco-conscious as possible,” Nick explained. The couple kept the guest list small (just 75 people) and hosted the event at the Park Terrace Hotel in NYC, which overlooked Bryant Park.

Due to health insurance and tax considerations, the couple legally married in December—months before their official celebration. They did it in their newly renovated living room, wearing matching sweatsuits in front of the fireplace.

With just six weeks to plan, the wedding day came with surprises. A major protest (which the couple supported) happened at the same location, causing gridlock. With no Uber or subway access, they walked through the rain to their venue. But the chaos didn’t stop there—dinner never arrived due to the protest. “We had to tell everyone we’re skipping to dessert,” Nick said, crediting Chef Chloe for the incredible vegan sweets.

The night ended in the West Village at Cellar Dog, a jazz bar with ping pong and foosball. It was the perfect blend of Anna’s artistic side and Nick’s competitive family spirit. Pizza finally arrived, guests laughed, and the celebration continued well into the night.

“Don’t compromise your values for family expectations,” Nick advised. Anna added, “Weddings can bring out the best—or worst—in people. Be ready to protect your peace and relationship.”

Their celebration wasn’t picture-perfect, but it was deeply personal—and that’s what made it unforgettable.
