In a world where love stories are often told, few are as uniquely charming and action-packed as that of Tara and Hunter Fieri. From a chance meeting at the Super Bowl to a heartwarming proposal and wedding at the family’s ranch, their journey is a true testament to shared passions and unexpected adventures. The power couple recently joined The Wedding Reporter Podcast to share all the delicious details of their love story and the full-circle moment of their Hunt Ryde Ranch wedding.

The Super Bowl Meet-Cute

Their love story began in the most unexpected way: a chaotic, fun-filled Super Bowl tailgate. Tara was hosting the NFL Pickleball Experience and was exhausted but decided to go to the tailgate at the last minute. After a slow Uber ride and a bit of luck, she found herself on stage at the Flavortown Tailgate.

It was there that she spotted Hunter, and in a bold move, asked him to take a picture of her dancing. What followed was a moment that could only be described as fate. Hunter handed her a shot of tequila, and they spent the rest of the game talking, truly connecting without any pretense. The encounter was organic and genuine, and they knew they had something special.

A Full-Circle Ranch Wedding

For their August wedding, Tara and Hunter chose a location rich with personal meaning: the Hunt Ryde Ranch, Hunter’s family ranch. This was not only the backdrop for their beautiful ceremony but also the very same place where Hunter proposed.

The proposal itself was a mix of thoughtful planning and playful chaos. Hunter, knowing Tara’s “investigative” nature, had to get the entire family to the ranch for Thanksgiving. During what was supposed to be a family photo session, he seized the moment, playfully distracting Tara by telling her to “look at that bird over there.” When she turned back, he was on one knee.

For Tara, the moment was made even more special by the story of how Hunter asked her father for her hand in marriage. Hunter went to White Castle, a nod to her dad’s rock-and-roll past, with a 30-burger “Crave Case”. He wrote his intentions on the box, which her dad immediately approved of, cementing their bond over a shared love for family and, of course, delicious food.

A Legacy of Love and Unique Jewelry

The couple’s rings also tell a beautiful story. Hunter’s wedding band is his late grandfather’s ring, a sentimental piece his grandmother gave him, while Tara’s features a custom wedding band that curves around the engagement ring. They also shared a glimpse of Hunter’s new ring, an octagon-shaped white gold band with three diamonds, a unique and meaningful piece that perfectly reflects his style.

The Reality of Wedding Planning: A Labor of Love

While the wedding day was a dream come true, Tara and Hunter were candid about the reality of wedding planning, especially for a large 350-person event. What started with two years of planning turned into a whirlwind of DIY projects and logistical challenges in the final months. Tara, a self-proclaimed former tomboy, admitted she didn’t have a Pinterest board ready but quickly learned that wedding planning brings out the best—and the worst—in people.

The couple had to make a conscious decision: either elope or throw a huge celebration for all the friends and family who had supported them throughout their lives. They chose the latter, but not without a few “mental breakdowns” along the way. Hunter wisely reminded Tara that they were a team. We don’t fight each other, we fight the problem,” he said, a mantra that helped them navigate the stress and stay focused on their shared vision.

A Country-Chic Celebration at the Ranch

The couple’s vision was an “upscale country” affair, a style Tara grew to love after attending Stagecoach with Hunter. She even wore her cowboy boots under her wedding dress, a comfortable and fitting choice for the ranch setting. The entire event was a massive DIY project, with their friends and family pulling together to build the venue from the ground up.

The centerpiece of the reception was the pickleball court dance floor, a unique and personal touch that perfectly blended their shared passions. They worked with their friends at Pickle Roll to create a custom court, a Wimbledon-inspired design with a gold outline. This hands-on approach and the help of their loved ones made the celebration a true community effort.

Moments to Remember: Food, Family, and Fun

The wedding was filled with core memories that will last a lifetime. Tara’s favorite moment was walking down the aisle, which had pinecones and rocks from the ranch in her dress—a symbol of the untraditional, authentic day they created. Hunter’s grandmother, Mimi, served as their flower girl, but in true “badass” fashion, she tossed the flowers and then the basket itself into a nearby pond, a hilarious moment that broke the ice for the emotional ceremony.

Another highlight was the food. As a family of chefs, Hunter and Tara knew they couldn’t serve typical banquet food. They brought in a team of world-renowned chefs, including Seth Sazer, Tony Lafasso, Erin May, and Lorena Garcia, to create a phenomenal menu with no leftovers. Buddy from “Cake Boss” even created their incredible wedding cake.

The reception also featured a surprise performance from Hunter’s dad, Guy Fieri, who performed eight songs on stage with his band. The night concluded with an impromptu line dance lesson for their East Coast friends, resulting in a comical collision that had everyone laughing.
