This weekend will most likely be filled with more celebrations of Mexican heritage with Cinco de Mayo right around the corner, so I thought I'd celebrate a little early on the blog with an absolutely stunning modern Mexican wedding! Ericka + Mario started their wedding day off with a traditional Catholic ceremony at Sagrado Corazon – the beautifully ornate parish here in Nashville. Their elements of Mr. + Mrs. chairs at the alter added such a fun modern touch to the traditional backdrop. Plus, they invited a mariachi band to join in on the fun for the ceremony leading them right into their rustic reception at The Grove at Williamson Place. Tell us about your wedding vision!
Ericka: Our vision from day one was always having a modernized Mexican wedding. Putting the vision together was definitely easier said than done. We wanted to be sure our wedding reflected who we were both individually and as a couple. We always envisionzied both of our big families united in a nice open area.
What was your theme and what inspired it?
Ericka: Our theme was a rustic theme. Honestly, we were inspired by the one and only Pinterest. It was also a great way to incorporate our Mexican roots. We just adored the barn look! We loved how the barn itself stood out and didn’t need much decorating . It was also a perfect way to accommodate our big families without breaking the bank with an over the top luxury venue.
Can you share any special moments or highlights of their wedding day?
Ericka: I always thought I would never be able to get married because I was a single mother. For the longest time I wished for a good man to come in our lives, so that I could give my son a family and a father figure. Then, one day I met Mario and since then he has given us that and more! That’s why, to me, it meant the world to walk down the aisle with my son, because for longest it was just him and me alone. I can’t even begin to explain what it felt like to walk down the aisle, next to my son, heading towards the man we always hoped for.
