The Advantage of Two Covered Areas
Unlike venues with only one indoor space that would require a stressful, last-minute “flip” from ceremony to reception, Rustic Elegance has a dedicated reception area and a versatile barn that serves as a flexible event space.
- Reception Ready: The main building can be set up for dinner and dancing and remain untouched.
- The Flex Space: The 3,100 square foot barn acts as the primary rain backup for the ceremony. It’s a beautiful, climate-controlled area where the team can recreate the outside vision indoors.
- Flow and Functionality: The barn is also used for cocktail hour, dancing, and mingling, offering a great indoor/outdoor flow between the spaces. If the ceremony moves indoors, the Rustic Elegance team expertly manages the flip—for example, resetting the barn from a ceremony site back to a cocktail/dancing area while guests enjoy dinner in the main venue.
Crucially, John confirmed that all this flexibility and labor, including any necessary flips, are included in their venue package, with no additional charges for the rain plan implementation.

When should a couple commit to the rain plan? John noted that while they prefer to decide earlier to allow for smooth execution, they will wait until about an hour before the ceremony if the couple is hoping for a break in the weather. The team will have the indoor space prepped and ready to go, and they do everything they can to make the indoor ceremony as beautiful as the planned outdoor one.
