When we saw this cultural wedding at The National Museum of African American Music come across our desks, we instantly felt the love! Thanks to LeeHenry Events, we get to share Ashley and Bryant’s special day that’s filled with many notable features. The two really wanted to include tributes to their heritage, which included having guests sign their Michelle Obama’s book (their favorite book), jumping the broom, along with having table names of African American figures that many know and love. Also, did we mentioned that all of this took place on Juneteenth? Couldn’t have been more perfect if they tried! These images from JAO Photography highlight it all so well. Tanza of LeeHenry Events: Ashley and Bryant’s wedding took place at The National Museum of African American Music on June 19 which was also Juneteenth. Ashley and Bryant were surrounded by 130 family, friends, coworkers and fraternity brothers who witnessed their love and commitment on this busy Saturday night on Broadway.
It was important to Ashley and Bryant to incorporate as many African American culture and traditions into their wedding day as possible which is why the museum was the perfect backdrop. Their wedding was only the 2nd wedding to be held in the museum since its opening.
Tanza of LeeHenry Events: Instead of the traditional guest book, President Barack Obama’s book and Ms. Michelle Obama’s book greeted guests as they entered the reception. The books are two of the couples’ favorite books and was used as the books for guests to sign. Because of the pandemic, they opted to provide branded masks to guests as favors.
After the ceremony, Ashley and Bryant jumped the broom which dates back to an old African tradition. Their reception tables were names after prominent figures in the African American community such as The Washingtons (Denzel), Teh Carters (Beyonce & JayZ), The Obamas, The Jakes (Bishop TD Jakes) and many more.
Bryant and Ashley wanted to present gifts to their guests so they created a game in which the winners won framed posters of more prominent people.
They ended their wedding with family and guests taking a scroll with them on Broadway. it was a perfect ending to a perfect Juneteenth wedding held at the National Museum of African American Music on Broadway.
Congratulations Ashley and Bryant! Thanks to LeeHenry Events for sharing their traditional cultural wedding at The National Museum of African American Music with us. It’s no doubt inspirational and a post we won’t forget!
