Charming Nashville Engagement Session by Eliza Kennard

There’s something special about hitting the town with your best friend and snapping some fun, flirty, and super cute photos! That’s exactly what took place in this charming Nashville engagement session by Eliza Kennard Photography. Julie and Dan hit up some of their favorite spots around town, giggling, striking a pose, and meeting some new friends along the way! From Shelby Bottoms where their handsome pup partook in some adorable photos to Broadway where the city lights of the music city shined, we’re huge fans of these photos and think you’ll be just as obsessed!

How did you get engaged? Tell us about your proposal!

Julie: Dan made up a two week long scavenger hunt with a fake email address that sent me clues. I had to solve cryptograms and a crossword, and figure out where other clues were hidden, it was pretty extravagant, hahahah! It ended on a Friday evening in our home with our dog carrying a message in a bottle that said “Just say Yes!” And I absolutely did! 🙂

How many guests are you expecting?

Julie: 300

What’s your approach to your wedding budget?

Julie: Honestly we’ve tried to just make sure that the things we really value (pictures, food and drinks, entertainment) are above and beyond our expectations, regardless of expense. The rest just kind of has fallen into a reasonable price range.

Who have you hired for your wedding team so far?

Julie: Eliza Kennard Photography – Photography, Vision in White Events – Planner, Champagne Dynamite – Band, Enchanted Florist – Flowers, Go Bonanza – Photo Booth, Lily and Lime – Video, Fadds Party Bus – Transportation, and Kate Marsh with Element Salon – Hair

What’s your wedding style?

Julie: Romantic but modern. Pretty and minimalist.

What’s your most fun purchase/hire to date?

Julie: The band. We did a lot of “research” on Broadway to find the right one 🙂

What aspect of being engaged has surprised you the most?

Julie: How fast time is flying. At first I was disappointed that we couldn’t get married in Spring 2020 because of the way the dates at the church and the Hall of Fame matched up, but now I’m glad I’ve had some extra time!

What have you most enjoyed about being engaged?

Julie: The outpouring of love and support from our family and friends. I think everybody knew we’d eventually get married and I love how excited everybody is to come to Nashville to celebrate with us!

Tell us about your engagement session. Where did it take place?

Julie: We shot at Shelby Bottoms Park, down on Broadway, behind Tootsies, at Paradise Park, in front of the Hall of Fame, and on the Pedestrian Bridge.

What’s the significance of the locations?

Julie: We wanted to include our husky, Gary, into some of our photos, so we started at Shelby Bottoms which is by our home and his favorite park to run through, hahaha! Next we went downtown to Broadway and for us, that’s the most special thing about Nashville. There’s so much history, and admittedly some craziness, on that street but we enjoy it so much, considering we are locals! Paradise Park has always, hands down, been our favorite bar on the strip, so we knew we had to take pictures there! And the pedestrian bridge has views you cannot beat, so that was a no brainer!!

What was it like working with your photographer?

Julie: A dream. Eliza is funny and patient and tried to keep it as light as possible. She is so flexible and honestly just rolled with it all day. Even afterwards, I’ve sent her texts asking for a particular photo in color or B&W, and she’s so sweet and so accommodating!

What did you like most about the session?

Julie: Knowing that we were going to have some memories captured in our favorite city.

Would you recommend the photographer and why?

Julie: Absolutely. Her photos are dreamy. She had great suggestions for photos, set us up without making it too awkward, and honestly just got gorgeous shots. She’s been very accommodating as well with all my requests after the fact!

Isn’t this Nashville engagement session by Eliza Kennard magic?! Huge thanks to Julie and Dan for allowing us to share this day! If you’re in the market for a great photographer, there’s no doubt you should check out Eliza Kennard HERE and on Instagram!
