What colors are brides purchasing for their bridesmaid dresses this fall?

Melanie: Deeper colors are definitely trending! Jewel tones have been popular, especially blues, greens and burgundies. These are also colors where we have a beautiful variety of fabrics for brides to choose from. It’s hard to resist velvet or satin back crepe in these shades. Champagne is a strong color choice, especially for evening/black tie events. It creates an elegant neutral palette, especially in metallic or shimmery fabrics. And black is timeless!

What predictions do you see coming in bridesmaid dress colors for spring 2019?

Melanie: Greens are gorgeous, especially in the sage colorway. Brides have been asking for this, and designers are answering! Also, more saturated pinks are trending. Blush is still on point, but we’re also doing more rose and mauve, or even terra cotta tones.

Are you still seeing a lot of mix and match styles?

Melanie: Absolutely! I think mix and match is here to stay. It’s a great way to reflect personalities, both for the bride and her bridesmaids. Maybe a bride doesn’t want everyone wearing tulle, a print, or a jumpsuit. But by mixing it up she can incorporate some of these styles. Layering the colors and fabrics adds such depth to photos! It’s a beautiful way to let each bridesmaid feel comfortable in what she’s wearing, by allowing them to choose their own style. A good mix and match takes effort, to get the right undertones and fabrics together, but they’re stunning when it all comes together!

Would you recommend darker colors for fall and lighter colors for spring?

Melanie: The boundaries are wide, and colors aren’t limited to seasons anymore. Greys, taupes and ivories are light but create beautiful backdrops for fall florals. Also, the icy blues and pinks create stunning “winter wonderland” looks. Navy and black are dark colors that are chosen year round. Rather than seasons, color choices seem to be more dictated by the venue and the bride’s personal favorites!

Is there a certain shade that you think will be the “it” color for this upcoming year?

Melanie: Hmmm….this is tough. It’s hard to choose just one. I’m going with sage green, because more designers are bringing it in. We have more choices now for brides to see in this color, and it’s flattering on most people regardless of skin tone. But rose will also be strong. 🙂 A very close second!

Is there anything else you’d like to share about bridesmaid dress color predictions?

Melanie: It’s fun to see color making a comeback. Neutrals are still popular, but for brides who love color, go for it! There are ways to incorporate color in big ways or small, so don’t be afraid of it.
