Alexis Waters, famously known as the “dolphin shark girl” from The Bachelor, recently dished on her Las Vegas wedding to husband Tyler, her journey from reality TV to stand-up comedy, and the unfiltered truth about navigating adulting in a candid interview on The Wedding Reporter Podcast.
The Iconic Dolphin-Shark & Life After The Bachelor
Alexis took Bachelor Nation by storm with her unforgettable dolphin (or was it shark?) costume entrance. She revealed that the costume was a humorous extension of her “aspiring dolphin trainer” job title on her application, a detail she concocted while in college. Despite producers confirming it was a shark, Alexis leaned into the bit, creating an iconic and hilarious moment.
Beyond the laughs, The Bachelor franchise brought Alexis more than just fleeting fame. It provided her with the funds to pay off student loans, a “sorority” of lasting friendships, and even free Botox to this day! Most importantly, it led her to Tyler. She met her now-husband through fellow Bachelor alum Rachel Lindsay at a New Year’s Eve dinner in Miami. Their connection was “natural” and “effortless,” blossoming despite a year of long-distance as Alexis moved to Los Angeles for a job.

A Unique Proposal and a Laid-Back Engagement
After five years of dating, Tyler proposed to Alexis on her 30th birthday. Knowing Alexis’s love for glam, he instructed her to get her hair and makeup done, tipping her off to the impending question. The proposal itself was a grand affair on a yacht, surrounded by family and friends—on separate boats, of course, a thoughtful touch by Tyler to keep family stress at bay for his fiancée.
Alexis and Tyler enjoyed a two-year engagement, a timeline Alexis wholeheartedly recommends. As someone who never envisioned a traditional “dream wedding,” she embraced the relaxed pace. This allowed her to be in the “best mental place”before the big day.
Britney-Themed Bachelorette & Vegas Vows
A self-proclaimed “ride or die” Britney Spears fan, Alexis threw an epic Britney-themed bachelorette party in Miami, celebrating the pop icon’s various eras. Despite the stress of planning (and admitting to not factoring in a “budget”), the party was a resounding success, culminating in a VMA Britney (kissing Madonna) costume for the bride-to-be.
When it came to the wedding, Alexis chose a Las Vegas elopement at the Little White Chapel, following in her mother’s footsteps. The 10-minute ceremony was officiated by an Elvis impersonator, a choice that perfectly suited Alexis’s fun and unconventional personality. Her short, sparkly, “Jersey hooker” style dress was chosen for its party-ready vibe, a decision she stands by, though she regrets not wearing her signature hoops! The entire wedding, complete with a magician, showgirls, and Elvis, cost around $1,000, proving that an unforgettable wedding doesn’t have to break the bank.

Post-Wedding Bliss and Future Adventures
One of Alexis’s most cherished wedding memories was seeing her family and Tyler’s family bonding and winning big at the craps table in a Vegas casino after the ceremony. Despite initial anxieties about her divorced parents, everyone got along “effortlessly,” creating a joyous and memorable collective win.
Now, with the wedding behind her, Alexis is embracing “living” — enjoying good food, drinks, and even vaping. However, with a honeymoon to Lake Como, Italy, and the South of France on the horizon, she’s back to prioritizing her well-being. Tyler, the “type A planner,” has meticulously organized their trip, which will include friends joining them in France for some continued celebration.

Alexis’s Wedding Wisdom & Beyond
Alexis’s advice for engaged couples? “Take your time” and “stick to the budget.” She emphasizes the importance of not taking on too many other commitments while wedding planning, as it’s a “non-stop” process. Most importantly, she urges couples to “enjoy the process” and “think positive,” as many anxieties may never materialize.
Beyond her newlywed life, Alexis is diving headfirst into stand-up comedy in Dallas and Fort Worth, a passion she describes as finally finding her “purpose in life.” She also hosts the “Literally Not Ok” podcast, where she shares her unfiltered thoughts on ADHD, anxiety, pop culture, and reality TV, proving she’s truly “never okay” in the most delightful way.
