A Guide to Nashville for Recently Moved Newlyweds

So you’ve recently married and are looking to set up camp in Nashville! Congratulations! You’re in for an adventure. There are so many great places here that it can be hard to know where to start exploring. In this post, we’ll take a look at some of the neighborhoods in Nashville, highlight our favorite spots, and show you the best ways to get around town.

East Nashville

East Nashville is the perfect neighborhood for someone who wants to live near downtown but not in the heart of it. It’s a little bit more affordable than some other neighborhoods, and it has a great food/restaurant scene with lots of coffee shops and breweries, too.

East Nashville Beer Works is a local favorite. They have a diverse menu of food options, and the beer is fantastic! It’s also lovely to sit out on their back patio and enjoy the weekend.

The East Nashville neighborhood is close enough to all the amenities on Dickerson Pike yet far enough from the hustle and bustle for those who want less traffic noise when they’re trying to sleep. The house prices are typically lower here, which makes this area perfect if you don’t have an unlimited budget.

Germantown

Nashville’s Germantown neighborhood is perfect for those who want to live in a historic part of the city. It’s one of the oldest sections of town, and it just oozes charm from every street corner.

Germantown is full of little historical details that give it unique character in this otherwise fast-paced city. Head down to the Nashville Farmers Market for the freshest produce and some of the city’s best lunch spots.

The Gulch

The Gulch is a hip and happening part of town. It’s got a ton of great restaurants, bars, and shops to explore. This is one of Nashville’s more popular neighborhoods for newlyweds who are looking for some nightlife.

The best things to do in the Gulch are down 12th Avenue, where the best restaurants and bars are located. The Gulch is also home to Bridgestone Arena, where you can catch concerts and live sporting events.

Sylvan Park

Sylvan Park is an excellent neighborhood in Nashville for families with kids. The area is full of all kinds of restaurants and shops. If you’re a golf enthusiast, the McCabe golf course is in Sylvan Park as well. If you’re looking for affordability while still enjoying Nashville living at its best, then Sylvan Park is just what you need.

The Nations

The Nations has seen a new era of revitalization over the last few years, and many residents now enjoy gorgeous modern homes. This area is known for its unique and distinctive architecture that makes it unlike anywhere else in the city. Newlyweds will enjoy all the amenities which make this a great place to spend time outdoors or indoors with friends and family. Stocking 51 in the Nations is a great place to go shopping for clothes and home goods – perfect for filling up your future home!

12South

The 12South neighborhood in Nashville is a great place to spend some time. On one end, you can get breakfast at Frothy Monkey, and for dessert, there’s Christie Cookie Co., where they serve yummy treats that taste like they were made with you in mind. In between are a variety of excellent shops with quirky goods, as well as bakeries, coffeehouses, bars, and boutiques showcasing local designers’ work.

Brentwood

Brentwood is one of the most welcoming areas of Nashville. It has the feel of a small town with big-city amenities nearby. You’ll never be short on things to do because there are exciting events happening at any given time throughout the year. Brentwood has public schools that rival private ones, as well as some of the city’s top daycares. For example, Kids Kingdom is only a short drive away. So if children are already part of your plans, then this is an excellent place for them, too.

Getting Around Nashville

As newlyweds, you’ll likely be looking at some of these neighborhoods for a place to settle down. Depending on your preferences, you can get most places on foot or through public transit. However, if you’re planning to start a family, chances are you’re going to need a car to get around.

Car shopping can be overwhelming, especially if you just spent a lot on a wedding. The good news is there’s a used car dealer in Nashville, TN, called Echopark, where you can get nearly perfect condition cars that are always up to $3,000 less than other locations.

No matter where you are on the journey to find your perfect home and ideal vehicle for commuting or taking weekend exploration trips around Nashville, Echopark is your best local bet for finding affordable, nearly new vehicles.
