Technicolor Boho Rainy Day Wedding by Shutter Sprite | Nashville Real Wedding

If you dream in color, then this wedding is for you! Chelsea + Joseph’s rainbow-inspired wedding day was definitely one for the books! With bohemian elements throughout and the brightest bouquet you ever did see, they carried the theme throughout every little detail at the beautiful Long Hollow Gardens. From the Persian rug aisle from Vintage Sparkle to the colorful patchwork-like cross ceremony backdrop, the scene was oozing with hippie vibes. And did we mention her hand-lettered blush leather jacket during their ceremony exit? Swoon! Shutter Sprite Photography was able to capture the color in it’s true form along with all of the happy tears shed by the bride and groom. See it all below!

Tell us your proposal story!

Chelsea: My husband and I fell in love in college in the Blue Ridge Mountains. When he proposed he wanted it to be beautiful yet simple. He proposed in his home town of Nashville, TN. It was during Christmas time under the millions of dazzling twinkle lights at Opryland where we had gone on many dates. It was magical and unexpected, since we had been dating for 7 years and I had almost given up hope. Little did I know he was teaching me patience.

Tell us all about your wedding!

Chelsea: We were married in the gorgeous greenhouse at Long Hollow Gardens. We wanted something totally different, something that was really unique. I searched all over Nashville for bohemian venues, and finally found it by googling greenhouses in the area. My husband and I ARE total hippies at heart, as well as old souls so we infused as much vintage and bohemian aspects as we could into the wedding. We know that we didn’t want any wedding colors, instead we used all of the hundreds of colors in the flowers- that was our color palette. We were inspired by beautiful brass and hand carved wooden details from India, as well as macramé and woven trims from the seventies. We wanted a Groovy Greenhouse Wedding- groovy, colourful, boho, eclectic and whimsical.

What were your favorite parts of your day?

Chelsea: Our vows to each other, my husband cried like a baby… it was perfect! That, and the epic VW bus photo-booth it was a blast. On our wedding day it rained like crazy, but honestly it was a complete blessing. Our photographer even encouraged us to get out in the rain and take pictures…. they turned out beautifully! Lastly, we did a first look really early on in the day so that we could spend an hour together before the ceremony even started. It was the best decision we made! It gave us time to see each other, have our moment, and spend extra time with our friends and family!

Tell us about all of the handmade + personal details in your wedding!

Chelsea: For our ceremony- we wrote our own vows, and walked down an aisle of vintage Persian rugs. The aisle was lined in bundled eucalyptus tied in multi coloured vintage crushed velvet ribbons. At the end of the aisle was a beautiful 10-foot-tall colourful wooden cross- hand built by my father-in-law. We collected the pieces of wood for over a year. We had a gorgeous installation of hand-painted wood & tassel sculptures that dangled next to huge macramé planters. For the ceremony music, we had a good friend play The Beatles’ “All You Need is Love”, and Coldplay’s “Yellow” on acoustic guitar. My favorite detail had to be where the flower girls handed out full stemmed flowers instead of throwing petals on the ground.

For the reception- every table was filled with my collection of colourful vintage glass and etched brass vases, and hand dyed doilies. My husband and I collected all of the décor by ourselves from estate sales and antiques stores for 2 years in preparation. We had an adorable mobile bar in a teardrop trailer, a BBQ food truck, and a photo-booth inside a teal VW bus. We had gorgeous signage hand-painted from a friend, custom koozies at the bar… and best of all a DIY tattoo parlour. We sat at long “Alice in Wonderland style” table in a vintage peacock loveseat with mismatched china and goblets.
