Who doesn’t love an engagement session that’s the perfect combination of romantic and effortlessly beautiful?! This swoon-worthy garden engagement session is just that! Surrounded by stunning architecture, a sea of greenery, and an overcast sky, Allyson and Austin looked as in love as ever at Cheekwood and the Arch at the mansion where they captured their love with Sydney Lauren Photography behind the lens. Thanks to their wedding coordinator at PLS Coordinate who shared the incredible photos with us, we were able to see the sneak peeks. It really doesn’t get much better than this. How did you get engaged? Tell us about your proposal.
Allyson: It was very spontaneous. He decided he couldn’t wait any longer and proposed to me in the middle of the night using a ring from his grandmother. We later picked out a ring together.
How many guests are you expecting?
Allyson: Around 200. Wedding is this coming October. We will be sure to use Covid precautions.
What’s your wedding style?
Allyson: A blend of Classic/formal/southern with a touch of boho. Mixing different shades of dusty roses and pampas grass. Lots of texture from rose colored velvet bridesmaids dresses to ivory table linens.
What’s your most fun purchase/hire to date?
Allyson: My wedding dress!
What have you most enjoyed about being engaged?
Allyson: Just all aspects of planning our future together. Knowing I get to be with my person.
Tell us about your engagement session. Where did it take place?
Allyson: I have always been in love with Cheekwood and the arch at the mansion. I knew I always wanted to have pictures taken there. So, I sort of had this vision in place and knew thats where I wanted them. My fiancé also loves Cheekwood as well so he was excited too! We were both nervous though because neither of the s enjoy having a pictures taken. It ended up being a cloudy and very humid day. But our photographer did such a great job bringing my vision to life. She made the session fun and took such a beautiful photos that we will always cherish.
What’s the significance of the location?
Allyson: I have always been in love with Cheekwood and the arch at the mansion. I knew I always wanted to have pictures taken there.
What was it like working with your photographer?
Allyson: She was so awesome! I highly recommend her. She gave great instructions because we didn’t have a clue what we were doing. I knew a few poses I wanted (the dancing shots) but she was great at knowing what to pose to get a good shot while making it fun. She also had a sneak peaks to us the next day and the entire gallery with a couple of weeks!
What did you like most about the session?
Allyson: Just getting to let lose and be silly with my fiancé. Neither of us really enjoy having our picture taken so it was completely out of our comfort zone but we both ended up having a great time.
