I love how modern wedding style is full of vintage elements. And this style was definitely depicted in this styled shoot by Billie Shaye Style Photography! Billie along with Truly Styled created a scene with pale blue and blush details and utilized the beautiful china collection from The Wedding Plate to complete the look. Tell us about the shoot vision!
Bilie: Jenny grew up here in the South. Since she was a little girl she’d dreamed of the perfect Southern, spring wedding with all the details to go with it. The red bud & cherry blossom trees just beginning to pop, the buttercups standing tall with their beautiful yellow blooms & the first smell of fresh cut grass lingering in the air. She prayed for a beautiful day for her outdoor ceremony. She envisioned a sweetheart table with white linens billowing in the wind & her grandma’s China placed perfectly for her & the groom she’d one day meet.
What was the theme and what inspired it?
Billie: Farm, contemporary, and a touch of vintage were the driving themes that inspired this shoot. There’s something about a beautiful barn surrounded by the rolling hills of Kentucky that manifest a magical and romantic feeling. I certainly didn’t want to take away from the rustic charm of the barn, so I decided to go with more contemporary details for a perfect contrast. I also added in those sweet, simple, and vintage touches to give it that warm southern love kind of feel.
What details were used to create the theme?
Billie: After a cold winter, spring had finally sprung! I was inspired by all the blooms and greenery coming to life, the colors from the warm sunlight gleaming off my own wedding ring, and the simple but profound beauty found in the wedding gown we had chosen for this shoot. I used blues and peach for the main colors. Added pieces of green and white in the florals and table runner, brought out that light, airy, and springy feel. The china we used had a mix of gold and silver so we were able to use touches of both colors in the decor. Using gold and silver together is a little scary to some, but with the right styling, they truly complimented each other and made the details for this shoot beautiful.
Were there any special requests or unique challenges that you had to work together to overcome?
Billie: This was our first styled shoot. Taylor was my (Billie-Shaye Style Photography) bride in 2017. Early in 2018 we decided to put our creative minds together & out of that came Truly Styled, a coordination & styling adventure for weddings. We knew immediately that a styled shoot was something that we had to do. So with a list of preferred vendors that I had worked with before and a list of vendors that Taylor followed on social media, Taylor started planning and coordinating. On the day of the shoot, we started planning our second styled shoot & I’m thrilled with how it’s coming along.
