How did you guys meet?
Caroline: Justin and I met in April of 2017 at a place named Crazy Town on Broadway in Nashville, TN. We were both out with a group of friends and were dancing in our groups. One of my friends started dancing with his and our groups started mixing and mingling. At that time Justin and I started talking to each other and before we knew it all of our friends had moved on and it was just the two of us. We spent the rest of the night talking and then went on a couple of dates after that. From there the rest is history.
Tell us about your engagement!
Caroline: We were on vacation in Rosemary Beach along 30A in Florida. We had just gone out to a nice dinner and Justin insisted we walked down to the beach even though it was pouring rain. I was extremely resistant and whined pretty much all the way to the beach. As soon as we got down to the water Justin dropped to one knee and asked me to marry him.
What was the vision for your wedding?
Caroline: I wanted a sophisticated yet relaxed vibe for our guests. I didn’t want them to feel like they were constantly being told to sit here and watch this, etc. I just really wanted everyone to have a good time!
What was your theme and what inspired it?
Caroline: I wanted to mix a little modern with some old south/rustic aesthetic.
Where did you splurge? Where did you save/DIY?
Caroline: Music is something that Justin and I both really enjoy and I feel like a lot of times it can make or break a party so having a live band is something we splurged on. Our invitations are something we saved on, I had a friend that had worked for a card company as a designer and she was kind enough to design our invitations and then I had them printed and hand glued things together from there.
What words of advice do you have for couples in the midst of their planning?
Caroline: Planning a wedding throughout a pandemic definitely taught me to go with the flow a little more as so many things were out of my control. Also, I think small details are what people remember/set your wedding apart. Like a cigar bar or creative photo booth.
Can you share any special moments or highlights from your wedding day?
Caroline: Justin and I chose to take pictures in between the ceremony and reception and after our pictures we ate just the two of us in the area our wedding parties got ready. I really loved this time of just he and I being able to soak everything and have a moment alone together.
