Scenic Engagement Session by Jessica Travis Photography

Nature and Nashville was the theme behind Shaneika and Kevin’s scenic engagement session by Jessica Travis Photography. Their day started amongst the greenery of the trees in a woodsy outdoor setting before showcasing their love in the streets of the city! Their natural ability to just be themselves and look as flawless as they do in front of the camera is the sweetest and has us loving photo after photo. If you can’t decide whether greenery or cityscape makes the best setting for your session, Shaneika and Kevin’s images are proof of how good incorporating both can be!

How did you get engaged? Tell us about the proposal.

Shaneika: It was December 2019. He told me we were going to a Christmas party for his work so we both got dressed up nice. Before going to the “party” we went to Opryland hotel to see the lights and had a few pre-game drinks. Then we needed to go back to our condo before going to the “Christmas party” to let his grandmother inside as she was staying the night at our place because she had an early flight the next morning. When the elevator to our condo lobby opened, there were candles, stringed lights, and white rose petals decorating the lobby. I thought we were interrupting someone’s party. Then he grabbed my hand and pulled me out of the elevator and the song “Marry Me” by Train started playing as we were crossing the floor and I started crying because I finally realized what was happening! He told me that when we had been at Opryland Hotel and tossed coins in the water, that his wish had been that I would say yes and got down on one knee to ask! Both of our closest relatives and friends were there to surprise me and one of our friends that is a chef had made dinner! There was cake and champagne too! It was perfect. At the end of that same week, we left for a planned trip to Paris. It was my 30th birthday trip (Kevin and I have birthdays 5 days apart so we always take an international trip to celebrate our birthdays). We went to Paris, Brussels, and Amsterdam. It was like a birthday trip and engagement trip all in one!
