Classic Wedding at Riverwood Mansion with John Myers Photography

Special. That’s the first word that comes to mind when describing Olivia and Ben’s classic wedding at Riverwood Mansion. The details? Incredibly timeless, including the color palette of ivory whites and greenery for a fresh look. The moments? Absolutely beautiful. Olivia and Ben added a lot of personalized details and even found ways to honor those that had passed before their outdoor wedding celebration. There is so much meaning behind these images and highlight video from John Myers Photography and Videography. We can’t wait for you to see it all!

Tell us about your engagement!

Olivia: Ben and I got engaged on our 2 year dating anniversary. The entire day he did small things to throw me off so I was completely surprised. What I thought was a hike and picnic at Percy Warner Park turned into the best day of our lives when my best friend asked me to marry him! Ben’s sister sneakily took pictures from behind some trees and captured the entire moment. We celebrated our anniversary/engagement at Bastion for dinner and then Ben told me we were going back to his place to celebrate with our parents. I was beyond shocked when I walked into a room full of our family and friends from near and far away. I was floored to see our parents, out of town family members, childhood best friends, college roommates, and so many more scattered throughout the room. I’ve never been more surprised, it was the absolute best day!

What was the vision for your wedding?

Olivia: We wanted our wedding to be classic and elegant. I easily decided on simple white florals with lots of greenery. We always knew we wanted to get married outside and instantly fell in love with Riverwood’s ceremony space. We wanted all our details to be timeless and the focus of our day to be our love for one another!

What was your theme and what inspired it?

Olivia: Timeless, classic, elegant, romantic

Can you share any special moments or highlights from your wedding day?

Olivia: We decided to privately exchange personal vows but didn’t want to see each other before the ceremony. Before our ceremony began we stood back to back in the garden and exchanged our vows with lots of happy tears. Coming down the aisle felt even more special since we hadn’t seen one another all day! My cousin and matron of honor sang “Can’t Help Falling in Love” as I came down the aisle. I carried bouquet charms with pictures of my grandparents who both passed away in 2018. I gifted Ben a boutonniere with a picture of his late father to place inside his jacket. Ben’s father passed away from pancreatic cancer in December 2020 shortly before our wedding, I knew how heartbroken Ben was to not have his father with us in person so at the ceremony I reserved the first chair and placed a sign I made with a poem in his honor. Ben used his grandfather’s ring as his wedding ring. I choreographed our mother daughter dance to our favorite song “Ain’t No Mountain High Enough”. My mother and I watercolored all of the wedding invitations and we used the same iris drawing she created for my parents wedding invitations. My mom surprised me by placing a picture of her and my grandfather from her wedding day and sixpence for good luck in my wedding shoes. We are both Nashville natives so we used mini guitar mints as our seating assignments.

Is there anything else you’d like to share about your wedding?

Olivia: Our wedding day was a true dream. I got to marry my best friend and have the most incredible celebration with all of our loved ones. It was the best day of our lives thus far! Thank you for our feature, we are honored! Let me know if there’s anything else I can add!

Told you this one was good!! Special thanks to Olivia and Ben for sharing their classic wedding at Riverwood Mansion with us and to John Myers Photography and Videography for the photos and video.
