Tell us about Amanda Leise Photography + how long you’ve been in business.
Amanda: I lived in Nebraska my entire life, and have been photographing weddings all over the Country and parts of the world for 13 years. I moved to Nashville, TN last year, and have been over the moon in love with the Industry here. The Southern Style really caters to my Photography style. Over 300 weddings later, and I still love to capture love ,and I’ve been all over the Country and world to capture amazing couples. Every single wedding and story is different and amazing. My work leans natural and cinematic, so you remember the day exactly how it was. The colors, your emotions, your guests to the decor are all captured in a way you’ll look back and remember exactly how it looked and felt. I go into each wedding day imagining my clients looking back at their albums in 30 years and bringing back the sense of that day.
How did you get started in weddings?
Amanda: I grew up in a small town in Nebraska, and ever since I was little I’ve enjoyed simplicity. I think I learned at a young age to “see” the world and people a little more in depth. Photography goes hand in hand with that. In college, I was about to graduate with a degree in Art with an emphasis in Graphic Design, and I decided to shoot my own photos for my Junior end of year project for a perfume ad. I asked a couple of friends to model, and that night I was sitting in my dorm room editing them on Photoshop, and ended up posting a few on Facebook. People noticed my work and soon enough I was doing family portraits for local families and random projects for college friends. I photographed my first wedding the Summer after my Senior year on my college campus and the rest is history. I’ve shot over 300 weddings over the span of 13 years. I’ve been all over the Country and parts of the world Internationally to Photograph couples near and far. It’s been so neat getting to live out a dream I had as a kid of traveling, living off of my art, and meeting all kinds of people who have become friends through the Industry and beyond.
What’s the philosophy behind Amanda Leise Photography?
Amanda: Every single day is so different. Every couple, their personalities, color palettes, families, memories, are all different. No two the same. I go into each day knowing that, and that’s why it’s always creative for me. I approach each day like a journalist. I’m stopping time for my Couples. The MOST important day of their life is in my hands to capture. I want every single couple to feel like they are my only Couple. I often look at my Couples as friends rather than clients. Each one is important to me, and I am ALWAYS so honored they chose me.
What are your strengths compared to others in your category?
Amanda: I have a lot of experience in the Wedding Industry. I’ve been around a long time and have seen it change so much over the years. I keep up with trends, while keeping my cinematic documentary style. I truly care about their day and their images, their wants. I am experienced and truly love what I do.
What attracts couples to Amanda Leise Photography?
Amanda: I am naturally very adventurous and down to earth, and I feel those are the couples that I have drawn in over the years. The couples I work with most are very relaxed and truly want me to use my artistic abilities to capture their days. The couple may be laid back, but also very artsy. They may have some of their own ideas but fully trust me and my vision. They think outside the box with decor and tend to wear vintage alot! My work has been called “serendipitous” more times than I can count, and maybe that’s a good way to describe my clients too!
What is the most innovative new product, service, style or other aspect of your industry that brides and grooms might appreciate?
Amanda: I am adding a drone service + Super 8 video + film to my packages this year. I think vintage and film has made a big comeback, and I started shooting more film last year on my 1958 camera, and was recently gifted a Super 8 video cam, so I am breaking that out this year. 🙂 I have always loved vintage, so it’s really cool that it’s made such a big comeback.
