This team of Nashville wedding professionals came together at Cedarmont Farm for a design that included the yellow shade “Illuminating” with its contrasting partner “Ultimate Gray.” The rustic setting contributed to the bohemian vibe, while clean, yet modern decor accented each wooded element with ease; including acrylic chairs, a speckled two-tier cake, and subtle yet cheerful accessories. Colleen with Cedarmont Farm: 2020 was a rough year for many people, event professionals and engaged couples included, so when we saw the colors Pantone chose as “Colors of The Year for 2021” we felt inspired to make something beautiful out of them. The colors “ultimate gray” and “Illuminating” called to mind the familiar gray of the past year and the cheerful yellow quite literally illuminating us into a 2021 filled with hope. Pantone colors often get worked into the design of that year’s weddings and the color is often deemed a new wedding trend. But this year, the colors seemed to symbolize more than just a napkin color or a floral accent. This year, the colors symbolized to us everything that we learned from 2020 and everything we hope to bring to our 2021 weddings; a focus on the relationships involved in a wedding and the marriage itself, the beautiful simplicity of marrying the love of your life and the explosion of joy that is found in that alone, whether you have 200 people at your reception or just 2. A wedding is beautiful because it is the light at the end of the tunnel. It’s that joyful moment in which two single people who have been going through life alone celebrate finding each other and starting a life together. That’s what we learned from 2020 and we look forward to taking that knowledge with us into 2021 to add even more weight to the beautiful weddings we plan and design for couples.
What details were used to create the theme?
Colleen: With that in mind, we sought to reflect that modern simplicity in this shoot, while also keeping a focus on the gray and yellow hues. We chose to go more modern with the attire, and loved the fun pattern on the wedding dress from Modern Trousseau. For our place setting design, we wanted to keep it simple while also adding modern elegance with the choice of florals and the marble plates. We also wanted to add lightness to communicate hope with the use of glass bud vases, and acrylic chairs. The yellow napkins were the perfect pop of joy among the modern plates. Similarly we chose a bright yellow shoe and earring for our bride that communicated that cheerfulness. For the cake, we chose a simplified yet elegant design with the accent of gold leaf on a simple white buttercream textured cake. The invitation suite was completely handmade with beautiful modern calligraphy and the pretty combination of grey and yellow. We loved being able to design a modern yet elegant inspiration shoot using Pantone’s 2021 colors that brought together a great team of wedding professionals. It was the perfect way to close out 2020 and welcome in 2021, a year hopefully filled with more happiness and cheer yet having learned to focus on the best part of every wedding: the love that is celebrated and shared.
