Tell us about Frosting Gurl Cakes + how long you’ve been in business.
Brittany: Frosting Gurl Cakes came about officially in 2020 after having been doing cakes on the side for friends and family for years. I grew up in a home where my mom also owned her own cake business and I visited our local cake shop weekly. After attending culinary school, I knew I officially wanted to stay in the sweet department and always be the one to create that last bit of sweet and happy memories after enjoying time with their friends and family.
How did you get started in weddings?
Brittany: Weddings are the ultimate party! The celebration of two people coming together in love and joy, there is nothing better to want to be a part of. I love planning events, and when it came time to planning my own, I was obsessed. I actually made my own wedding cake (5 tiers, all white in buttercream – it was a dream). My favorite part is being able to create the best cake combinations for my couples and to help create that special first bite into wedded bliss.
What’s the philosophy behind Frosting Gurl Cakes?
Brittany: An event without cake is just a meeting. I strive everyday to give my clients and their guests the ultimate wow factor to their reception or party.
What are your strengths compared to others in your category?
Brittany: Having 18+ years of experience working with buttercream.
What is the most innovative new product, service, style or other aspect of your industry that brides and grooms might appreciate?
Brittany: I love to stay current with all of the new cake trends and styles each year, working with American buttercream, fondant, rice paper, wafer paper and florals. Im not afraid to try something new!
