Fun and unique engagement shoots are my jam! When I saw Courtney + Alan's engagement photos, all the boxes were checked and my heart was a flutter! This cute couple invited Nashville area photographer Derek Couts out to the Tennessee State Fair to capture their love on film. Derek, Courtney + Alan set out to the fair among the thousands of fair-goers to let their love shine! Despite the challenges of those thousands of fair-goers, Derek managed to tell Courtney + Alan's story beautifully in this series of photos. Here they are along with commentary from Derek himself!

From the Photographer, Derek Couts: Courtney and Alan met in college and hit it off rather quickly! They became “official” in 2014 after a first date to Cheddars and have since then been inseparable. They two found out quickly that some of their favorite activities to do with each other are to travel to new places and hang out in Nashville often. When it comes to their favorite characteristics about each other, Alan says he likes her heart most, while Courtney loves that Alan is very passionate.
Derek: The biggest highlight of the night, in my opinion, was shooting on the carousel. When Courtney and Alan would go in for a kiss, their seats would go in opposite directions, which brought them further from each others' kiss. This turned out for some genuine laughter and a couple of jokes afterwards about it too!
Derek: Shooting among all of the workers at the fair, the crowds, and the loud rides was certainly a challenge. Even more so, with each ride, we only had a minute or so to get the photos that accurately represented the love Courtney and Alan have for each other. One such moment was while riding the Ferris Wheel. When requesting to be seated in the next cart after the couple so I could catch the two of them flirting while on this ride, I was met with some resistance from the operators and they instructed me to sit in the seat directly across from Courtney and Alan. I guess that is why going in with a plan B is always helpful! The images on the ride and in front of it turned out to be my favorite ones of the night! Anything met with resistance is sure to be great if you have a plan!
