Tell us about Justin Thompson Media and how long you’ve been in business.
Justin: My company, Justin Thompson Media, specializes in cinematic wedding videography and is based in Tennessee. I’ve been in business since 2019, focusing on creating personalized, authentic films that highlight each couple’s unique story. Same Day Edits are one of the most exciting things I offer couples for their wedding day. It’s a big challenge but seeing couples laugh, cry, & cheer with their friends and family as they watch their film is extremely rewarding.
How did you get started in weddings?
Justin: Most of my early video work (about 11 years ago) was for friends and family and it eventually led to people asking me to film their weddings. I took a break from weddings and explored different types of video work. About 7 years ago I took several online courses, one of them being Full Time Filmmaker. The combination of FTF and my coach Michael Gebben gave me the push needed to start my business 6 years ago with weddings as the focus. I love the energy and novelty of weddings.
What’s the philosophy behind Justin Thompson Media?
Justin: I strive to build a team over the next decade that produces the highest possible quality art I can envision. My philosophy is to never be content with our previous success. There’s always something we can learn and improve on. In the long run I want to push what’s possible with wedding films and keep improving on an ever more luxurious experience for our couples.
What are your strengths compared to others in your category?
Justin: My biggest strength are my Same Day Edits. I’ve dedicated a lot of years to improving them and every couple has loved them. It’s more then just a video, its a wonderful & unique experience that becomes a beautiful memory you’ll never forget.
What attracts couples to Justin Thompson Media?
Justin: I think the biggest reason couple’s reach out to me is word of mouth. They either experience the same day edit at a friends wedding or their friends recommend me. I also often get referred by other vendors or venues. Even in the internet age I think word of mouth is the best form of marketing. I’m also very good at teaching, and I think this skill helps when working with couples on their wedding day. Nerves can be high and I’m good at keeping things calm and making sure the couple feels at ease.
What is trending in your area of expertise?
Justin: Social Media Packages I think are very popular now. Having not just one video but a bundle of shorts to share on social media can be very fun for couples (usually brides). I also think video in general is more trending for couples then it was a decade ago. More and more couples are valuing video. Video captures movement & sound, things that photo just can’t. And this continuous capture allows for the creation of cinematic films that intertwine music, vows, & beautiful footage into a cinematic film that is uniquely yours.
Is there anything else you’d like to share about your company?
Justin: I believe your wedding day is one of if not the most important days of your life. A lot of time, effort, and money is spent to put it all together. Making sure it’s captured beautifully forever is my job and I’m honored and grateful for that opportunity.
