If you remember back to last Wednesday’s post, we interviewed the fabulous Carlyle Thornton LIVE on The Wedding Reporter Podcast during our Nuptials at Noelle event! (Listen to or watch the podcast above!)
For her engagement, Carlyle was stunned when Ryan got down on one knee in front of this beautiful skyline on a special October night in Nashville at the 1Hotel. As the story goes, Carlyle and Ryan went ring shopping a few months prior and she bought two dresses to choose from when the time came. She asked Ryan to tell someone when it was time to wear “the dress”. It was near Halloween and her friends were already in town but it got real when one of her friends said they had reservations for the rooftop to get sushi and drinks but that it was also time to wear the dress! Even though now she knew it was coming, she still didn’t know when, where, or how so it was still much of a surprise! But the biggest surprise was afterwards when their closest family and friends were waiting on the roof as well!

Details about ceremony/reception you would like to share:
Carlyle: All wedding events are taking place at Flat Mountain Farm, the entire wedding party will be staying on property Thursday-Sunday and it’s going to be so fun having everyone in close quarters all weekend! We have a full weekend of events planned including a Bridal Luncheon, Rehearsal Dinner, Welcome Party, Cocktail Hours, Ceremony and Reception. The theme for the weekend is Upscale Mountain Chic. “Mountain Formal” and “Black Tie” are the dress codes for the weekend. I’m getting married at my favorite place in the world (the mountains, which have a very special place in my heart as I grew up going to the mountains visiting my Granddad who passed away when I was in college) and will have a mountain backdrop as the setting of our ceremony. Highlands in the fall is so gorgeous and the leaves will be at peak color during our weekend which will be beyond magical! We plan to have a large sailcloth tented reception and celebrate into the night!
Bride’s fashion details you would like to share:
Carlyle: My dream has always been to go wedding dress shopping in New York. In February, that became a reality as I attended appointments in the big city with my mom to pick out my dream ceremony dress! For my wedding reception, I will be doing a “surprise” outfit change and will be wearing a fabulous custom piece from local Nashville-based bridal designer, Olia Zavozina. Tell about your wedding party/family:
Carlyle: Our wedding party is made up of 20 of our closest friends and family members. I have two sisters that will be my co-maids of honor’s and Ryan’s two brothers will be his co-best men. We can’t wait for my favorite people to stand by our sides on our big day, it’s going to be so special!
Tell about where and how you met:
Carlyle: Ryan and I met at Church in Nashville, Tennessee. We kept making eye contact before the service because we recognized each other and after it ended he approached me to get my number. Ryan asked me on our first date the very next day and the rest is history! He later told me he knew he was going to marry me on our first date and even called his mom to tell her that he had just met his future wife. When you know, you know!
Where did you spend your honeymoon or where do you plan to go?
Carlyle: We haven’t quite finalized our honeymoon details yet but we do know we want to go somewhere fabulous and tropical. After the stress of wedding planning and a busy weekend, we would both love to sit on a beach and relax!
What do you do now? Where do you live? Any pets?
Carlyle: I work full time in social media in addition to my influencer business that I started over half a decade ago. I share everything from fashion, travel, beauty, home and everyday life! You can follow along on instagram @carlylethornton. Ryan and I have two purebred Ragdoll cats named Luna and Dolly, a Miniature Australian Shepherd named Ellie and even have a saltwater fish tank! I’m 29 years old, from Birmingham, Alabama but now reside in Nashville, Tennessee.
Anything else you would like to share?
Carlyle: Ryan and I took engagement photos in the desert right outside of Las Vegas earlier this month. The location is called “Valley of Fire,” Ryan’s brother and sister-in-law are extremely talented professional photographers and took our photos and they are stunning!
