Plus, exploring and taking in the outskirts of our growing city has its benefits – escaping the hustle and bustle of our regularly visited urban hangouts and opting for a more laid-back style is perfect for the couple who wants to get cozy! And that's exactly what Ashley + Mike chose to do for their engagement photos! Traveling out to Leipers Fork to experience an old-timey quaint downtown area with plenty of land to roam around was a great option alongside Nashville-based wedding and engagement photographers Jordan & Alaina! They captured the couple's story wonderfully with a rustic barn, rolling fields, a campfire and even an old red truck to give their photos a relaxed and laid-back small town feel. How did you meet? Tell us your love story!
Ashley: Mike and I met at North Central College when we were both taking a speech class. We started studying together at the library, and the rest is history! We have been together for 6.5 years. Mike proposed to me last Christmas Eve in front of my family. He asked me using a handcrafted ornament. It was really special to do it in front of my grandma because we don't know how much longer she will be with us.
Was there any significance behind the shoot location or theme?
Ashley: We chose Leiper's Fork because it was one of the first little road trips we did when we first moved to the Nashville area from Chicago. We love the quaintness and small town feel that Leiper's Fork has to offer. There are also a lot of unique buildings and scenery that we thought would be great for engagement pictures!
Can you share any special moments or highlights from the day?
Jordan + Alaina: Ashley and Michael were a dream to photograph! They were so relaxed and comfortable during their session (we like to think that we play a part in that, haha!) They are so head over heels in love; you can definitely see and feel it in every one of their photos. It was a perfect fall day during their session, slightly cool weather with a nice breeze, the leaves were starting to change, and the light was just perfect! We loved that the bonfires were also lit that evening…it made for some adorably cute shots of them roasting marshmallows and snuggling up by the fire!
Ashley: We love working with Jordan and Alaina! We were pretty nervous going into the day of our engagement shoot because we had never done anything like that before…they instantly made us feel comfortable and were able to bring out our personalities through our pictures. We also love how creative they are! They were able to think of areas around Leiper's Fork that we would of never been able to think of. Our pictures told a story of the day, they were not just a bunch of random shots that you often see. They were able to capture our love story and we cannot wait until they capture our wedding day! We couldn't ask for better photographers with such artistic talent and passion about what they do. It has been a joy working with them so far.
Did they have any special requests or unique challenges that you had to work together to overcome?
Jordan + Alaina: We originally had scheduled their session for earlier in the fall, but that day ended up looking pretty nasty with rain, so we rescheduled to a different date. We are glad that we did, because golden hour the day of their actual session was so beautiful and dreamy!
