Tell us how you met!
Jacob: Amy and I met at a local public high school, where we both work! Amy is a school counselor, and I was an English teacher. We worked together regularly to support struggling students and to help them prepare for college and career. Mixed in with conversations about students, Amy and I often talked about the perils of dating, family drama, and all of the other things that best friends share. During one of those conversations, Amy asked me if I would write an online dating profile for her, and I agreed. But, before I allowed her to post it for all of Nashville to see, I asked her to go out with me just once. To give it a shot. And then she could start dating online. Long story short, Amy was hooked after dinner at The Pharmacy, tickets to a Preds game, and a brew at Flying Saucer. She never did post that profile!
Tell us about the vision for your wedding!
Jacob: Our vision for our wedding was directly inspired by The Cordelle. After seeing countless venues, The Cordelle exuded all of the things that we love about our own home, our own neighborhood, and our own lives. It was unpretentious, warm, and open with the charm of history and a dash of modern, sleek design. The venue, like our wedding, was simple and lacked many frills; instead of focusing on flowers, decorations, cakes, and stationery, we elected to devote our time and budget to providing tasty food (a delicious selection of tacos from Flavor Caters), a generous selection of libations (beer, wine, and signature cocktails), and music that rocked the house (The Remedies absolutely killed it!). The venue space itself and a little seating pretty much covered all of the rest. One other thing that we agreed was a must-have was: time together. All too often the bride and groom say their vows and then get sucked into endless separate circles of conversations; instead, we wanted to be together for the whole evening. So, immediately after the ceremony, we escaped to the loft and closed the door; Ashley from Posh Occasions, as if on cue, knocked on the door a minute or two later and brought tacos and cocktails to us so that we had the necessary fuel to dance all night! She knew exactly what we needed! And, eating dinner together allowed us to step out on the right foot, wholly focused on the love between each other while surrounded by the love of others.
Can you share any special moments or highlights of their wedding day?
Ashley of Posh Occasions: The bride and groom were so thoughtful and caring to make their grandmothers a special part of their day. They both wanted a special moment before the ceremony, after their first look, to surprise the groom's grandmother who was unable to attend and FaceTime her. They also wanted to do something special for the brides grandmother. During the reception, the brides grandmother wanted horns to be played so they improvised and had the band's saxophone player serenade her with a solo. It was such a sweet moment with family all around dancing with her, tears were flowing everywhere.
