Tell us about the shoot vision.
From Megan at Wilburn Street Studio: Every wedding has the potential to tell a story, and the most memorable ones are those where every detail feels connected. For this styled shoot, the lotus flower became that story—a symbol of serenity and renewal woven thoughtfully into the design. Every great story begins with a captivating setting; for this shoot we chose Wilburn Street Studio, a historic dry goods store-turned-wedding venue that is nestled in the heart of East Nashville. It was the perfect backdrop to beautifully blend modern sophistication with timeless tradition.
What was the theme and what inspired it?
Megan: With the lotus flower as our inspiration, we chose a meaningful theme and carried it throughout to show couples that they can create a celebration that feels both personal and cohesive.(Quite literally inspired by Curated Event’s lotus flower plates)

What details were used to create the theme?
Megan: The lotus first appeared in the stationery suite, offering guests a subtle preview of the day ahead. At the reception table, the same lotus design was mirrored on dinner plates from Curated Events, seamlessly tying the table design back to the invitations. For couples planning their own celebration, this is a simple but powerful approach: introduce your theme early—whether through paper goods, a monogram, or a custom illustration—and then echo it in small but intentional ways throughout the event.Color was another thread that connected each element. Navy velvet linens provided depth and formality, while brown and cream accents added warmth and softness. Together, they created an atmosphere that was both sophisticated and welcoming. Think beyond “matching” colors. Instead, curate a palette that can flow from ceremony to reception, from florals to fashion, creating visual harmony without feeling repetitive.
The lounge area showcased how furniture and textures can play a role in storytelling. A vintage blue couch paired with cream accent chairs struck a balance of comfort and style, blending old and new just as the modern circle ceremony arch did against the timeless theme. Couples can take this idea and make it their own by mixing meaningful heirlooms with contemporary touches, or by styling lounge vignettes that reflect their personalities.
A whimsical and guest-friendly detail, we featured a floral bar by Kennedy Occasions that allowed attendees to build their own mini bouquets or floral favors. It brought a burst of color and creativity to the day, encouraging connection and giving guests a beautiful keepsake to take home. Any couple can borrow this idea by finding interactive ways to extend their theme—whether that’s a tasting station that reflects their heritage, a photo booth backdrop that echoes the motif, or favors designed with their shared story in mind.
This shoot proves that a wedding theme doesn’t need to be rigid or overly styled. Instead, it’s about choosing one meaningful idea and letting it flow naturally through each part of the day. From paper goods to tablescapes, lounge furniture to guest favors, couples can create a wedding that feels intentional, beautifully curated, and uniquely their own.

This lotus-themed celebration is proof that wedding design doesn’t need to be complicated to be meaningful — it just needs heart, intention, and a few thoughtful details that speak to your story. Whether it’s a symbolic motif, a curated color palette, or interactive guest experiences, the magic is in the cohesion. And if you need one more sign that the best moments are beautifully unscripted? Our models had never even met, yet their instant chemistry brought the entire editorial to life. Let this shoot inspire you to create a wedding day that feels authentically you — stylish, soulful, and effortlessly unforgettable.
