When Alex and Perry planned their Drakewood Farm wedding they envisioned giving their out-of-town guests an authentic Tennessee experience filled with love, music, and laughter. What they didn’t expect was that their big day would become truly unforgettable when, in the middle of their vows, tornado alerts sent everyone to shelter for 15 minutes until the storm passed. Thankfully, everyone was safe, and once the skies cleared, the couple continued with their heartfelt ceremony and joyful reception—proving that love can weather any storm. You would never even know that this happened because this images by ACE Photography focus on all the beautiful details that are ready to grace your eyes!

From the couple, Alex + Perry:
We wanted to reach out to share our unforgettable wedding experience at Drakewood Farm up in Goodlettsville on Saturday, April 5th. In the middle of our vows, as the alerts on everyone’s phones were going off, we were asked to evacuate the ceremony area and shelter in place in various areas around the property for about 15 minutes as the storm passed by.
Thankfully, everyone was safe and we were able to conclude the rest of the ceremony/reception without any additional interruptions. Our guests (most of whom were visiting from out-of-state and had never even been to the Nashville area before) kept telling us how this was the most memorable wedding they’ve ever attended, so we hope you agree and feature our unique experience!

How did you meet?
Perry: We met via Hinge in the Summer of 2019. I (Perry) had just moved to the area a little over a month prior to continue my career in music and Alex had been living there since 2018 when she started grad school at Vanderbilt working towards a PhD in Biochemistry. We got tacos on our first date and it’s a tradition we’ve honored every July 9th since!
Tell us about your engagement!
Perry: I proposed to Alex on October 27, 2022 at the conclusion of a restaurant-themed scavenger hunt featuring previous date-night spots all over The Gulch. She was onto it from the start, but was a good sport and played along the whole time up until I popped the question at Kayne Prime.

Where did you get your dress/attire?
Perry: Alex got her dress from Glitz.
What was the vision & theme for your wedding? What details were used to create this vision?
Perry: The majority of our guests were visiting from out-of-state (many of whom had never even been to Nashville before) so we wanted to give them an authentic Tennessee experience. Our love of live music (especially from the late 90s / early 00s era in which we grew up) and whiskey (we had a bourbon-tasting bar separate from the main bar) definitely helped plant the seeds for all the subsequent aesthetics.
Where did you splurge? Where did you save?
Perry: We splurged on the venue (specifically the upgraded food service package) and saved on the band (Chill Pill were the perfect band for the occasion).

What is your best piece of advice for others planning their wedding?
Perry: Expect the unexpected!
What was your first dance song?
Perry: “Dull” by Microwave
Can you share your favorite memory or any special moments from the day?
Perry: It HAD to have been the mid-ceremony tornado evacuation…thankfully everyone was alright!

Alex and Perry’s wedding day may have included a twist no one saw coming, but it only made the celebration even more memorable. As they shared, their best advice to other couples is simple: “Expect the unexpected.” And if their wedding is any indication, sometimes the unexpected makes for the best memories of all.
