Tell us about your engagement!
Olivia: Tim and I planned a New Year’s getaway to one of our favorite places in the U.S.—Charlottesville, Virginia. After a lovely New Year’s Eve and New Year’s Day spent mostly just the two of us, Tim suggested we start the next morning with a hike in the Shenandoah Valley instead of my originally planned walk. It was a crisp, sunny morning under 40 degrees, with frosty trails leading us up the steep climb to Humpback Overlook. With a few breath-catching stops along the way, we finally reached the top, where it was just the two of us and the most breathtaking views in every direction. I insisted we take a timed selfie, and as I turned back, I was stunned to see Tim—hands shaking—drop to one knee and ask me the biggest question of our lives. My jaw dropped, and through happy tears and pure joy, I managed to blurt out “Absolutely, 100%!” The whole moment was a beautiful blur, followed by the happiest trek back down the mountain. To top it all off, Tim had planned a cozy fire pit at a nearby winery and a romantic dinner that evening. It was perfect in every way, and I still get giddy just writing about it.
What was the vision for your wedding?
Olivia: Honestly, My vision for our wedding was to create something beautiful and full of florals, with a soft, gardenesque feel. I wanted it to be intimate and comfortable for our guests, filled with amazing food, and centered around a relaxed, personal vibe that truly reflected us. More than anything, it was about joy, connection, and celebrating love in a way that felt natural and genuine.
What was your theme and what inspired it?
Olivia: No theme (maybe a little garden-esque and channeling our inner-foodie culture) , just local, somewhat simple, and lively.

Can you share any special moments or highlights from your wedding day?
Olivia: The entire day was super special! I was not “All-aim” on a first look, and the well of- just decided to go with it to simplify the flow of the day… and our first look was super special! Neither Tim nor I love attention on us, but seeing eachother and being able to chat before hand was an intimate moment. And being surrounded by all of our family and closest friends (and bringing them all together in one place) was the BEST feeling! Nothing can top the love surrounding us that day!
What are some tips you can share with other brides planning their weddings?
Olivia: To future brides, I’ll be honest—wedding planning stress is real, but don’t let that intimidate you. Take it as preparation, not pressure. Even though I planned my wedding in just about 100 days, my biggest advice is: don’t rush. Create a timeline that works for you and your partner, and if you want something simple or even an elopement, go for it! Be clear about your budget, make a spreadsheet, and don’t be afraid to redline vendor quotes or ask detailed questions. The financial side of a wedding is important (make sure you are discussing this with your partner and family), but don’t let it consume the joy of what the day is truly about—you and your partner. I also highly recommend hiring at least a month-of or partial planner; they are lifesavers. On the big day itself, remember it will move so quickly, so try to carve out at least 15–30 minutes just for yourself to breathe and be present. And while it’s natural to want control (especially for us planners at heart!), the truth is you can’t control everything on your wedding day—so let go, soak it all in, and have fun!

From the heartfelt first look to the garden-inspired atmosphere and unforgettable time with family and friends, it was a celebration filled with joy from start to finish. If you’re planning your own wedding, let this special day be a reminder that the best celebrations are the ones that reflect your unique story and the love you share.
