Geeta & Luke’s Multicultural Wedding by Sara Bill Photography | Nashville

A wedding is all about two people fusing their lives together as one. And this is so evident in Geeta + Luke’s multicultural wedding in Nashville! The couple fused their backgrounds together in an oh-so-colorful Eastern-influenced ceremony at Blackthorn Club. Throughout the couple’s planning process, they wanted the day to be about who they were as a couple and it totally showed! Tell us about your engagement!

Geeta: Luke proposed to me on our one year anniversary – he took me out to brunch, Star Wars movie and ended it with a beautiful dinner at a local restaurant. At the end of the night, once we were back in our apartment, he launched into a speech about what he loved about me and us. And just like that – he popped the question – it took me a few seconds to process what was going on and then I said yes!!!! Naturally!!!

What was the vision for your wedding?

Geeta: I was all over the place the first month after we got engaged. We visited temples and various wedding venues – toyed with the idea of doing two separate ceremonies. It all go so overwhelming. So we decided to take a step back and really think about what we wanted our marriage to signify. It wasn’t just a union of two people but of two families as well. Once we got our values aligned, we naturally chose a fusion ceremony. That’s when the fun truly began. We were in completely uncharted territory and while it was stressful at times, we used it as an opportunity to really have our ceremony speak to who we were as individuals as well as a couple.

What was your theme and what inspired it?

Geeta: The theme was fusion – we wanted to highlight important traditions from both sides – so we went with a country club setting and used some tasteful decorations here and there to enhance what was already there.

Can you share any special moments or highlights from your wedding day?

Geeta: I absolutely loved my first look. When Luke (my husband) suggested it – I didn’t know what it was but it made practical sense to get some photos taken care of. It was the best idea – we got to share some quiet time and regroup before the ceremony. It helped center us.

What are some tips you can share with other brides planning their weddings?

Geeta: Enjoy the process and work as a team. The period between the engagement and wedding is very special for a couple. It will test your communication skills and your patience, however, it is a phenomenal opportunity to learn to work as a team, identify each other’s strengths and play up to them. And remember, there will always be hiccups on the big day – wrap your mind around embracing the imperfections but laughing at them anyway.

Is there anything else you’d like to share about your wedding?

Geeta: I absolutely loved my wedding day – I had so much fun. I was surrounded with love and laughter. I’ve been to weddings where the bride and groom looked stressed out. I am glad that I didn’t feel any of that stress on the day of the wedding. After all it’s a celebration of what brings a couple together – you gotta have fun with that!!!
