From the bride, Emily: When I woke up on September 1, 2018, the weather was perfect (80 and sunny), and I knew it was going to be the best day EVER!  Jarryd’s mom, my bridesmaids, my mother and I all got ready at our East Nashville home. We spent the morning getting pampered and contoured, while drinking mimosas. We opened gifts, laughed and cried, and I was in heaven with all the girls I loved the most in one room. Jarryd and his friends watched college football and hung out at a nearby AirBnb until we gave him the “go-ahead” for our first look.

I first saw him at Eastwood Christian Church, the beautiful church near our home, where we decided to get married (after looking at every venue in the city).  I didn’t have wedding day jitters, but when I saw him for the first time that day, I was so at peace and excited to marry the man of my dreams. We hugged, cried a little, and spent that moment talking about our mornings with our friends and how happy we were that the day was finally here.

From the bride, Emily: After some photos and the heartfelt first look with my dad, we spent an hour or two at the church freshening up and getting ready for the 5:30pm ceremony. One of my favorite parts of the day was watching all our friends and family arrive at the church. While everyone was arriving, it started to DOWNPOUR outside. I had a brief moment of panic, but right before we lined up for the ceremony, everything cleared up, and the sun came right back out. I think it was God’s way of letting us know he was with us and offering a little pre-wedding luck 🙂

We chose a “moody” style wedding with some burgundy and boho flare, so the church was nice and romantic with dimmed lighting, lots of candles, and greenery running the aisles. The ceremony was just how I pictured it, intimate and meaningful, as we decided to start the ceremony talking about 3 things we loved most about each other. We also wrote and read our own vows, which made it that much more personalized. We included an Australian tradition, the stone ceremony, where each of our guests place a stone into a basket we’ll keep in our house forever. This is a symbol of their love and support for our marriage.

From the bride, Emily: Because Jarryd is a BIG fan of whiskey & bourbon, and I love industrial-looking spaces, the Oak Room at Green Brier Distillery was the perfect place for our reception. With cool walls and some train tracks very close to the venue, we were able to get some great photos before we went to the reception. We had tons candelabras, antlers, and boho flower arrangements at our reception, and it turned out perfectly. Emerald Empire Band put on a huge party and played a great mix of oldies and current hits. We did a confetti send-off to end the night, and invited everyone to the George Jones Museum rooftop afterwards, where the REAL party started.

Friends and family from Australia, Wales, Latvia, and all over the US came to celebrate us, and it was truly the best day we could have asked for, surrounded by those we love the most. Not to mention, Krisy and the Southern Sparkle team made it so easy for us to sit back and just enjoy our day, knowing that everything else was taken care of.
