Can you believe it was almost a year ago that the solar eclipse of 2017 happened? It’s one of those moments we’ll all remember for a lifetime! And that’s why I was so happy when Mandy Liz Photography shared this solar eclipse styled shoot with us today! Weddings tie in so perfectly with the eclipse as it’s a memory that will last a lifetime. I’m loving how Ashley of Evergreen Events tied in so many fun decor details into the theme like geometric centerpieces, a celestial-inspired cake, and even a black wedding dress and veil! What was your design inspiration?
Mandy Liz: We were in Nashville in August when the solar eclipse took place, and it inspired us to put together a wedding shoot. The eclipse was amazing, and the whole city came together to watch the sky as it happened. We felt that was a perfect way to symbolize a wedding when family and friends come together to witness love. We included a lot of black, gold, and astronomical touches.
Tell us about the details you used in the decor!
Mandy Liz: We dressed our bride in a black wedding dress and a black veil. The beautiful dress (from Bella Bridesmaids) had a deep V-cut and had shiny elements in the material. We incorporated a lot of black and gold. We used black candlesticks, gold candle holders, gold chairs, black linens, and more. My favorite part of the decor was the black glasses (from Liberty Party Rental) that are lighter up top and darker in the stem. Our cake by Baked in Nashville was an amazing 3 tier design with blue, purple, grey, and white paint strokes that represented the night sky. There were specks of gold all over the cake to represent constellations, which was a fun touch since you could see stars when the eclipse took place. The cake was simply topped with 2 macaroons that are eclipsing each other. A special moment was when we had the bride and groom do a gift exchange where the groom surprised the bride with a star certificate.
