Wedding Rehearsal Dinner: Plated vs. Buffet – The Best Option at Mere Bulles

As if the historical charm of Mere Bulles wasn’t enticing enough to host your wedding rehearsal dinner there, the team is able to work with their guests to provide an exceptional experience. With a menu designed with plated or buffet options, couples are able to choose the best choice for their specific crowd. But what’s the difference? Is one better than the other? Well today’s your lucky day because Caty of Mere Bulles is sharing all the details with everything you need to know. Check it all out below!

Tell us the main differences between a plated and a buffet dinner?

Caty: There are good things about both a plated meal and a buffet. I like to work with my clients and put together what they are envisioning within the spaces we have available. Most of my clients choose to do a plated meal because it allows for more guests to be sat within the room. If you choose to have a buffet more space will be used within the room for the buffet set up.

What are the benefits of having a plated dinner?

Caty: I would say the majority of my clients choose to do a plated dinner for two reasons. The first reason is because it creates a more intimate atmosphere. Our staff are experts at describing the pre-selected menu so that guests are aware of their options and know what to expect with each dish. A lot of our servers like to share a little bit about the house which most guests find interesting. A plated dinner allows the guests to sit back, relax and let the yummy food come to them. The second reason is because if you do not have a buffet set up within the room it allows for more space! This extra space could be used for more guests, a display table showcasing cute pictures of the couples, a bar table with selections of wine and much more.

What are the benefits of having a buffet dinner?

Caty: Buffets are used most often if my guest wants to have more of a mixer type event. One of my clients wanted to use one of our largest rooms for an engagement party, but did not want guests to have to sit at tables to enjoy their meal. This client chose to have one side of the room used for the buffet and the other side of the room used for mingling, taking pictures, etc. If you are looking to create a more laid back feel a buffet dinner is a great option. Another great thing about having a buffet is guests get to choose how much or how little they want to eat and which dishes they want to try! Some guests do not want to eat multiple courses worth of food, but would rather snack on different types of food as they socialize.

Is there a cost difference for each?

Caty: We have four different plated meals for our lunch packages that range from $23 to $40. We have five different plated meals for our dinner packages that range from $42 to $83. Buffet pricing depends on how many guests you have and what food options that are selected. The buffet is more customizable to the guests specific needs.

Is there a serving style that Mere Bulles prefers?

Caty: We prefer to do plated meal over a buffet because it lets us create more of an unique experience for our guests. More than likely the guest will walk away from a buffet and not remember much other than the quality of food. If you partake in our plated meals the guest will leave with more of the Mere Bulles experience we take pride in.

Tell us more about the space allotted for a buffet style dinner.

Caty: We can do a buffet for 20 or more guests. We have 8 different spaces that can be rented alone or combined to make larger spaces. The space we set up a buffet in depends on the number of people in the party. We want to make sure that we give the guests in the party enough room to enjoy their event and the buffet at the same time.

Is there anything else you’d like to share about a plated vs. buffet dinner?

Caty: We are happy that we have the capability to offer both types of dining experiences and ultimately want to help in creating a wonderful event for the host and their guests.

Regardless of which option you choose, I think we can all agree that you can’t go wrong either way when choosing to have you wedding rehearsal dinner at Mere Bulles! Thanks so much to Caty for educating us on these serving styles!
