Simple Yet Elegant Black and White Wedding at Ravenswood Mansion

White roses mixed with baby’s breath, a muted color palette, gold accents, sophisticated attire, and delicate script fonts were the recipe for Christian & Sadie’s wonderful celebration. They had two goals in mind for their simple yet elegant black and white wedding at Ravenswood Mansion. One was to stay true to who they are and the other was an aesthetic that would stand the test of time. With help of their incredible vendors including Jayde J. Smith Events, Liberty Party Rental, and White Ink Calligraphy both of those desires were easily achieved. Once we saw these photos Mallory Luster Photography, we instantly felt the fresh, yet laid back feel of their day along with the sweet connection these two share. It’s beautiful in every sense of the word. Go ahead and relish in the prettiness!

Tell us about your engagement!

Sadie: After 6 years of dating, Christian got down on one knee to ask me to marry him. We were at Cheekwood taking family photos with his family. When I thought they were over, he popped the question while my family ran around the corner with join us! Afterwards our friends and family surprised us with an engagement party that night. It was the most perfect day I will never forget!

What was the vision for your wedding?

Sadie: Our wedding vision was classy, simple, and timeless while staying on a budget. We wanted the classic black and white classy wedding feel that wouldn’t go out of style as years pass. We wanted it to be very us!

What was your theme and what inspired it?

Sadie: Our inspiration for our wedding was simple, classy modern black and white. We both die over beautiful outdoor weddings so Ravenswood allowed us to have the outdoor May wedding of our dreams with the beautiful green trees, blooming flowers, and historic mansion.

Can you share any special moments or highlights from your wedding day?

Sadie: We didn’t do a first look so anxiously waiting to see each other all day made the nerves of walking down the aisle more special for us. Both of us lost very close grandparents to us before our wedding. It was important to us to honor them on our wedding day that we always dreamed they would make it too. Christian wore his grandpa’s Rolex, I wore my grandma’s vintage ring, and our get away car was my first car, which was also my grandparent’s car before mine.

What are some tips you can share with other brides planning their weddings?

Sadie: Remember to focus on the actual reason why you are getting married instead of getting caught up in the stress of planning all the little details of the wedding. It’s so easy to get overwhelmed while planning, but the whole point of the wedding is to marry the love of your life! Don’t be afraid to ask for help and have family members take on some tasks. You will also never have all your most favorite people in my room again. Let that soak in and live in the moment of the day! It’s the best day of your life!

What a showstopper!! Thank you Sadie, Christian, and Mallory Luster Photography for sharing this simple yet elegant black and white wedding at Ravenswood Mansion!
