Tell us about your engagement!

Madison: Dustin surprised me with a weekend getaway in the mountains. He wanted to wake up extra early for a hike (this was suspicious) and proposed on top of the mountain! We had it to ourselves for several minutes because it was so early. I should mention that we forgot to take water and found ourselves drinking out of the creek on the way up..

What was the vision for your wedding?

Madison: We just wanted a fun, colorful day to celebrate with our people! From the moment we started planning we wanted everything to feel “like us.” We didn’t plan on a backyard wedding pre-COVID but we are so thankful it turned out the way it did.

What are some tips you can share with other brides planning their weddings?

Madison: Especially those in 2020… Let go of expectations! We spent a lot of time during our nearly 2 year engagement planning each and every detail, when ultimately 2020 had other plans. The important thing is that you get to marry your person. Pandemic or not there will always be factors out of your control. Particularly in the middle of a pandemic, follow your gut instinct. It was our number one priority to get married as safely as possible, and that meant we had to keep the guest count low. We certainly would have loved for more family and friends to spend this moment with us, but didn’t want to increase the risk of anyone getting sick. Also, do what you want! Don’t be afraid to toss out any part of a traditional day that isn’t appealing to you. All you have to do is get married!

Can you share any special moments or highlights from your wedding day?

Madison: It was so special to see my family and Dustin working their tails off to make everything so beautiful. Getting married with our bridal party and immediate family was really intimate, and Dustin’s vows would make anyone sob!

Is there anything else you’d like to share about your wedding?

Madison: We had 5 dogs in attendance and that was just awesome. Our two mini dachshunds are a big part of our lives and we couldn’t imagine them not being there!

Congratulations Madison & Dustin! Thank you for showing us how beautiful weddings can be when love is the focus of it all. Also, shout out to Sara Bill Photography for these great photos! Check out more of her work HERE!
