After meeting at a New Years Eve party four years ago, it was only fitting that Peyton and Seth chose to have a New Years Eve wedding at 14TENN. They infused a boho meets art deco style into the space, including incredible florals by T. Villager, Edison Bulbs, and a decorative arch that was built by Peyton’s dad. While the plan was to have a big celebration, COVID-19 forced them to downsize and postpone their larger gathering. However their day was still as beautiful as ever; ending with a fun pop of confetti! What was your wedding budget? $30,000 – 40,000
How did you guys meet?
Peyton: Seth and I met through mutual friends at a New Years Eve party 4 years ago. We started dating around the same time a year later when our paths crossed again. Since New Years Eve played such a strong role in bringing us together, it was the perfect day for us to get married.
Tell us about your engagement!
Peyton: After crossing paths a year after we had first met, Seth asked me on our first “official date” on January 5th. Fast forward 2 years later, Seth took me on a date on January 5th, 2020 to the same restaurant to relive our first date. We went to Radnor Lake afterwards, where he proposed to me with the most magical view surrounding us. We then came home to a surprise engagement party with all of our friends and family.
What was the vision for your wedding?
Peyton: We envisioned our wedding to be a huge New Years Eve celebration, commemorating the special holiday that allowed us to first met each other and later come together. However, COVID-19 had its own plans. Due to the pandemic, we had to reluctantly postpone our big celebration to a later 2021 date (March 20th). Fortunately, we were able to pull off a special intimate ceremony with our immediate family on 12/31/20, allowing us to still celebrate our marriage on our special date. We consider ourselves quite lucky to be able to ultimately celebrate our marriage twice as much!
What was your theme and what inspired it?
Peyton: Our theme was a blend of Boho and Art Deco, both of which are “our style” and aesthetics that we love. We had to adjust due to having to postpone our big wedding last minute, so we plan to follow the same theme, on a grander scale, for our big wedding in March.
What details were used to create your theme?
Peyton: Our color scheme was white, gold, and greenery. The main items that carried our theme were lots of Eucalyptus, romantic candle light from white candles, Edison bulbs, and gold lanterns.
Where did you splurge? Where did you save/DIY?
Peyton: We splurged on our florals and decor, which was worth every last cent. T Villager Designs is the most wonderful and talented group of individuals. They were an absolute pleasure to work with, and we are so excited to see the magic they create at our big wedding in March 2021. We were fortunate to have my dad (who owns Belkin Home Improvement, LLC) build our beautiful wood arbor altar for us. We saved money on our cake/dessert table. We had a small (yet delicious) one tier cake from Julia’s Bakery for just us, and we had donuts from the wonderful Donut Country Murfreesboro for our guests. We will do the same for our big wedding, and we will also save by having DIY welcome signs and a few other pieces of decor.
What words of advice do you have for couples in the midst of their planning?
Peyton: Planning a wedding is such a stressful, yet special time. Our words of advice would be to sit down with your partner before you begin your planning process to discuss what each of you envision your wedding day to be. Discuss which details each of you care about the most, and come to an agreement on which details to splurge on and which to save on. Enjoy this season of life, and try to make the planning process fun by making a “date day” out of the planning steps such as making your registry or food tastings. Also, don’t hesitate to make your wedding as personalized as possible! There will be many differing opinions about what your wedding day should look like. Remember that you don’t have to prioritize any “tradition” that does not suit you. After all, your wedding day is all about celebrating the two of you!
Can you share any special moments or highlights from your wedding day?
Peyton: We chose not to do a first look with each other before the wedding ceremony. We both agree that the highlight of our wedding day was seeing each other for the first time as I walked down the aisle to Seth. It was such a special and emotional moment for both of us.
