Beautiful Weekday Wedding at The Bell Tower

Now THIS is how you start a week off right. Friends and family of Melissa and AJ made their way into town on a Monday afternoon for a beautiful weekday wedding at The Bell Tower. With the help of the wedding planning team at Chancey Charm, all the details fell into place which included a sweet ceremony at Scarritt Bennett followed by a brunch reception. The romantic ambiance contained the prettiest floral designs, soft pink hues, and a bit a whimsy — which we love! And let’s not forget to mention that these portraits by David Niacaris. are out of this world. You’re sure to blush at this beauty!

From Kristen of Published + Pretty: Melissa & AJ’s wedding day was full of romance, with touches of glamour! From the shades of blush, crystal accents, and sweeping greenery; Melissa’s romantic, glam vision truly came to fruition. Melissa opted out of a first look with AJ; however, she couldn’t pass up the opportunity to surprise her father with that memorable moment together. The couple swapped ‘I Dos’ at Scarritt Bennett Chapel on a Monday afternoon in front of friends and family. Guests then made their way downtown (a la Vanessa Carlton) to a brunch reception at The Bell Tower. We cannot get over that cascading floral staircase into a sea of candles & the whimsical (vegan) wedding cake! In true Nashville fashion, the couple shared their first dance to a song the groom wrote for Melissa. Combine that with a heartfelt toast from the groom’s brother and the tears were flowing! Melissa & AJ truly gave their guests a reason to break out their dance moves on a Monday night! What better way to walk into forever than being showered with literal hearts.

How did you meet?

AJ is a band member and Melissa attended concert. Melissa found AJ on instagram and they connected.

Tell us a little a bit about your wedding (your vision, color, style, and location choices).

We wanted our wedding to be elegant, classic and timeless. A church was important to us because of our Christian faith and Scarritt Bennett is so beautiful with its traditional look and rich history. As soon as we walked into the Bell Tower we felt it was big enough for our guest size. The high ceilings, string-lights/lighting options felt grand and we liked that they also had a catering company included with their services.

Tell us about your attire choices.

Melissa found a Justin Alexander dress from Palm Bridal in Naples, FL: Strapless sweetheart fit and flare with lace appliqués that cover the bodice and continue onto the skirt. It has a detachable skirt with a longer train that attaches at waistline with an embellished beaded belt.

AJ has loved James Bond since he was a kid so the classic tux was the way to go for him and the groomsmen – from Generation Tux.

Bridesmaids wore blush dresses from Azazie that had floral embroidered detail on the straps.

Tell us about your wedding flowers.

Melissa’s grandmother was a florist so flowers were very important for the big day! Blush, white and greenery were the colors and we wanted them grand and elegant to match our timeless and classic theme

Tell us about your wedding cake.

Melissa has severe food allergies (milk, eggs, nuts) so we wanted to make sure she could enjoy not just cutting our cake but eating it too! Our baker did a fabulous job with not only samples and design but also flavor (it was so delicious!)

What did you do for favors?

We did not have your traditional favors… Since we got married during 2020 we had custom masks created that said “Spread Love Not Germs” for each guest.

Please describe any DIY, handmade, or personal details.

Melissa painted the church welcome sign and our ring bearer’s sign to walk down the aisle.

AJ wrote our first dance song with an artist here in town. The song was written for the artist’s song project but as soon as Melissa heard it she knew she wanted it to be their first dance song.

Did you include any family heirlooms or special traditions?

Melissa’s mom handed down the handkerchief given to her by her grandmother for her wedding day for Melissa to use for any crying she would do (lots haha)

Do you have any advice for couples planning their weddings now?

We never thought we would have to reschedule our wedding due to a global pandemic but the most important part of the whole process is that you get to marry your best friend and celebrate it with the people you love. If you can afford to have someone to help plan the wedding or at least take over for the day of the wedding, do it!  With all the moving parts and coordination behind the scenes, we would 100% recommend. Especially since all of our family came from out of town, we wanted to focus on spending time with our families the entire weekend and day of! (we got married on a Monday)
