Beautiful Graystone Quarry Wedding by John Myers Photography

Putting an elegant spin on nature’s beauty, Maren and John opted for a wedding day filled with greenery, woodsy decor, and hints of modern stone. Since both have childhood memories with lakes and water, a water-like feature was a must for their day, making Graystone Quarry the perfect venue for them! The day came to life and was romantic as ever, leaving us with a plethora of images that we are still obsessing over! One of our favorites, John Myers Photography and Videography captured the day. Enjoy scrolling through some highlights below.

From the couple: John proposed on Isla Mujeres, an island off the coast of Cancun, Mexico where Maren has spent numerous cherished family vacations. Described as her “favorite place on Earth,” John took her to the one place on the island she had never visited, Punta Sur. He led her down to the lookout where they began discussing the possibility of a future return to the island. Maren said “of course!” they would come back, but she would want her family to come too. John knowing he had perfectly set himself up for the “big question” proceeded to ask if he was considered part of the family. Maren quickly assured him he was and then John got down on one knee and asked her to “make it official” by marrying him. After saying “Yes!” the two made the most of the secret photographer John had planned and enjoyed a wonderful celebratory dinner on the beach.

What was the vision for your wedding?

Maren: John and I tend to be fairly traditional and I wanted the wedding to be a reflection of those values. When I envisioned the ceremony and reception, I saw decorations that were simple, but elegant and colors that were muted and natural. It was also really important to me that our wedding incorporated some kind of water feature. Lakes were a large part of both of our childhoods and I wanted to marry John in a place that reminded us of those memories. However, It was not until we chose Graystone Quarry for our venue that I truly saw how my vision could be achieved. The dark woods and stone of the venue were softened by greenery and white and gold accents in a way that was better than anything I could have imagined.

What was your theme and what inspired it (e.g. farm, garden party, contemporary, modern, vintage etc.):?

Maren: Our wedding theme was refined rustic and was heavily inspired by our wedding location.

Can you share any special moments or highlights from your wedding day?

Maren: At the end of the evening, when all the guests were outside lining up for our sparkler exit, John and I were able to have one last dance, just the two of us. It was such a wonderful way to end the evening and is a memory I will cherish forever!

What are some tips you can share with other brides planning their weddings?

Maren: Spend time on the details. Wedding planning can be overwhelming, but often it is the little personal touches and gifts that your guests will appreciate the most!

Is there anything else you’d like to share about your wedding?

Maren: Our wedding would not have been possible without all the hard work of our wedding team, friends, and family! We could not be more grateful for everyone’s hard work and dedication to making our special day beautiful!

Choosing our favorite wedding photos was no easy task because we LOVE them all! Thanks so much to John Myers Photography and Videography for sharing and for Maren and John for letting us feature such a special day at Graystone Quarry!
