What are some questions you ask a couple when they cannot decide on which Sandals location to choose?

Linda: For many couples this is their first major trip together so asking questions about their expectations for their vacation, what their interests are, and vacation experiences prior to them becoming a couple all help in deciding on resorts and destinations. If asked, “where do you want to go on your honeymoon?” the normal response is a tropical beach destination, but this can mean something totally different to the bride and groom. Some are content to lay on the beach every day and soak up the sun, others must have adventures nearby such as fishing, foodie tours or adrenaline tours and activities.

Are couples able to split their trip up and stay at different resorts?

Linda: For couples that can’t narrow it down, we can combine resorts and destinations so that both parties have a wonderful time with just a 3-night minimum stay at each destination.

Can you explain to us how the Honeymoon Hop works?

Linda: Honeymoon Hop works in a few different ways – (a) If the couple is having a destination wedding, some will leave the wedding resort and have their honeymoon at a second resort or destination. (b) Some clients will choose to stay on more than one island. (c) Some clients will stay at more than one resort or stretch their budget by staying in a less expensive room category for the first few nights and then upgrade their room for the last 3 nights to a overwater bungalow, private pool suite or rondoval at the same resort. Or they can move to another resort on the same island.

Are you able to stay at resorts on different islands, or is it solely for resorts on the same island?

Linda: With Sandals Resorts, if clients stay at more than one Sandals Resort on the same island, transportation is provided between the two resorts. If they are staying on more than one island, normally a flight on Liat or Caribbean Airways will be required which is an additional cost. But once clients reach the destination, round trip airport transportation is included in the price of the room or suite with Sandals or Beaches Resorts.

Is there transportation provided to and from the other resorts?

Linda: After having conversations with clients to determine the best resorts and destinations that meet their criteria, I will then do research for flights from their home town and also on Liat and Caribbean Airways for availability for their dates for flights. This also helps to determine the order of the islands as not all flights operate on a daily basis.

What are the perks of booking a Honeymoon Hop?

Linda: Perks of booking a honeymoon hop include experiencing different cultures, food and adventure. For instance Bahamian Island Hop; if you combine Sandals Emerald Bay in Exuma and Sandals Royal Bahamian in Nassau – you can swim with the pigs in Exuma. Or the golfer can plan a trip to Greg Norman Championship Golf. They can also visit the straw market on Nassau, snorkel or scuba around the famous James Bond Movie props, or spend time on the resort’s private offshore island with two cove beaches.

You could also combine St. Lucia and Antigua – experience the famous mud baths and drive up a volcano on St. Lucia. You can check out Shirley’s Heights sunset barbeque on Antigua, discover Devil’s Bridge or explore the sands of Dickenson Bay. Did you know black pineapple is the national fruit of Antigua? And it’s so sweet!

You could also combine Barbados and Grenada to see green monkeys and swim with turtles. I love doing the Island Safari off-road adventure in Grenada. You can also check out the Spice Island with pink sand beaches, waterfalls and chocolate farms. Popular Jeep tours allow you to drive through the capitol city and explore the island. Or you could spend your full vacation on Jamaica (choosing between seven resorts) and explore Dunn’s River Falls in Ocho Rios. You can also experience the amazing sunsets, jerk and cliff diving in Negril, the Capital of Casual. Or in Saint Lucia, split your stay between the three resorts for totally different experiences on the same island.

What type of couple books a Honeymoon Hop?

Linda: Many of my clients that book a Honeymoon Hop are well seasoned travelers, adventure seekers and looking for new experiences. They do not mind having to repack in the middle of their vacation to move to a new location. Additionally, many of my clients will spend part of their vacation relaxing and part of their vacation volunteering in the community, doing reading road trips with local school children and other service opportunities.

Is there anything else you’d like to share?

Linda: Sandals Resorts offers 15 different experiences on six of the Caribbean’s most gorgeous islands and Beaches Resorts offer 3 unique experiences on Turks and Caicos and Jamaica all situated on a stunning beach. So many different resort options allow you to put together a totally custom itinerary for your honeymoon hop and create memories to last a lifetime. You can complete your honeymoon hop with custom tours and activities with Island Routes. As a Chairman’s Royal Club Specialist, I have personally visited all the Sandals and Beaches Resorts many times and have island hopped between the islands

Where are our explorers at? This is such a great opportunity to experience different adventures! Thanks Linda for sharing all about the honeymoon hop!
