We love a good floral installation! Tell us what trends you’re seeing for this fall.

Rachael: I love taking a garland and adding a lot of hanging items and textures. I think talking a base like a garland and then adding more greenery hanging down adds another layer to it.

What designs are you seeing that work best for a fall ceremony backdrop?

Rachael: Hanging florals are everything for this fall. Don’t be afraid to add a little color and do something different. String florals together and then hang them at different heights.

Are there certain colors that couples are gravitating toward for fall?

Rachael: Color is in this fall! Bring in a color and do less neutrals. Of course always neutrals and greenery are never going to go out of style, but definitely don’t be afraid to add in oranges, peaches, dark pinks, maroons, and purples.

How can you utilize floral installations at your wedding reception?

Rachael: Do a really cool sweetheart backdrop, do something over the dance floor, or do something behind the band or the DJ. Feel free to use your ceremony backdrop again and use it in a really fun way in your reception. Add a chandelier and then totally transform it. Use a blank wall and then cover it in greenery and hang florals in front of it.

How much time does it take your florist to create a floral installation?

Rachael: Its all about imagination and being able to picture it! A lot of these are done on the spot at the venue. Usually the base of the installation is done a head of time and then the other elements are done there. It is easier for travel and it’ll look better in the long run. It can take a few hours just depending on how extensive it is. Usually if you are doing one of these, the venue should have more setup time for your florist.

We love hearing that color is trending during the fall months! Pair that with the talent of Rachael Ann’s Event Design and you’ve got yourself a match made in heaven! Thanks so much Rachael for sharing these floral installation trends with us!
