How did you get engaged? Tell us about your proposal!

Desirea: We were supposed to be going to Philadelphia to visit Andre’s family at Christmas but he surprised me with a trip to a cabin in  Gatlinburg.  The morning after our first night, we met with a tour guide who hiked 2 miles with us to an amazing waterfall. It was at the base of the waterfall that Andre proposed. 

How many guests are you expecting?

Desirea: We’re expecting about 130.

What’s your wedding budget? What’s your approach to budgeting: -We’re sticking to it! -We’re using it as a guide, but have some flexibility -What budget?

Desirea: $30,000. Some flexibility but mostly sticking to it.

Who have you hired for your wedding team so far?

Desirea: Venue-opryland Resort Photography-grace upon grace, Kali Exum Videographer-let live media Lighting/drapery-high tone entertainment 

What’s your wedding style?

Desirea: Classy, elegant, clean

What’s your most fun purchase/hire to date?

Desirea: The most fun thing so far has been the food/cake tasting.

What have you most enjoyed about being engaged?

Desirea: We’ve really enjoyed planning the wedding together. We’ve learned more about each other in the process and it has brought us closer. 

Tell us about your engagement session. Where did it take place?

Desirea: Our engagement session took place at a private residence. My friends mom offered her newly built house in Hendersonville, Tennessee.

What’s the significance of the location(s)?

Desirea: We really wanted an open, gorgeous space and her house had everything we were looking for. 

What was it like working with Grace Upon Grace?

Desirea: It was so easy to work with her. She was fun and made us laugh. She made us comfortable and it was easy to be ourselves.

What did you like most about the session?

Desirea: We wanted to have a session that was unique to us. We had the idea of just showcasing things we do on a daily basis. We cook together, we dance in the kitchen, we watch friends every night, and we love board games. Our photographer really brought our vision to life. I love that it genuinely shows who we are. 

Would you recommend Grace Upon Grace and why?

Desirea: Yes! She’s so fun and really listens to what you want.

Desirea: Planning a wedding can be stressful but don’t forget to take the time to enjoy the process. Take time to dance in the kitchen.
