Franklin Tennessee Engagement Session Larissa Marie Photography

Darling Engagement Session in Franklin

With a fall destination wedding in Wisconsin on the horizon, Emily and Noah wanted to embrace the charm on Tennessee with a darling engagement session in Franklin. Whether they were posing in front of architectural spots in town or frolicking in the fields with a more naturistic setting, their casual, cool attire paired well with each backdrop. These images from Larissa Marie Photography are cuteness overload with the golden hour light being the cherry on top of the cake. Enjoy the sweetness from this e-sesh!

From the photographer: Emily and Noah are getting married up in Wisconsin on October 15th 2022 but currently reside in the Nashville area. They have grown to love the area and wanted to make sure that it was captured as a part of their story. We were happy to help them with that goal and made the trip from Wisconsin to meet them for their engagement session. We started in downtown Franklin to soak up some of the character and charm from the beautiful town. From there we headed over to The Park at Harlinsdale Farm to grab some images that screamed Tennessee. We wandered all over the grounds and found some of the most beautiful backdrops for their engagement photos. The golden light towards the end of the session was an incredible way to cap off their session. We can’t wait to see them again in the fall for their wedding.

How did you get engaged? Tell us about your proposal!

Emily: We got engaged in October of 2020, where a relaxing fall break get away to the Smoky Mountains turned into a whirlwind of a weekend. Noah had little surprises for me all throughout the trip, and ultimately got down on one knee atop the Chimney Tops Trail. When I thought it truly could not get more magical, he surprised me the next day with flights home to Wisconsin for an engagement party with our closest family/friends. I still smile so big remembering this time!

How many guests are you expecting?

Emily: 200 guests

What’s your wedding budget? What’s your approach to budgeting: – We’re sticking to it! – We’re using it as a guide but have some flexibility – What budget?

Emily: I think the most important part to us was having conversations about what was a priority for us as a couple. We agreed that we both cared most about the gathering of our families/friends and the celebration of that gathering, so the entertainment/venue meant most to us, as is reflected in our budget. We also discussed the hope to be able to look back at the memories for years to come, so a timeless photographer was built into our budget. The other stuff took a back seat. We think it really just needs to reflect what matters most to that couple. Weddings are NOT cheap, so I think this approach has at least let us feel confident in the financial decisions we made surrounding our budget.

What’s your wedding style?

Emily: Timeless- we opted for modern takes on classic traditions for the most part. We love our all white venue with gold accents to allow for us to bring in our own style. We also are letting our favorite season, fall, take the lead with inspiration for colors. Think the Smoky Mountains as the leaves turn in early November and that is what we are shooting for.

What’s your most fun purchase/hire to date?

Emily: As it isn’t yet our wedding day, the best return on our investment so far has absolutely been our photographers (Larissa Marie Photography) and our wedding coordinator (Olive Branch Events Co). Simply put, they have made this process fun. People refer to wedding planning as “stressful” and it absolutely is. Part of me always wondered, “So why do we do it?”. Larissa, Matt, and Deanna reminded us of our why; to celebrate our love and reflect on all that has happened to lead us to where we are now.

What aspect of being engaged has surprised you the most?

Emily: How many vendors there are out there! Noah and I would describe ourselves as generally decisive people, but in this process of planning a wedding we have realized how easy it is to be overwhelmed by all the options.

What have you most enjoyed about being engaged?

Emily: I think this has been the phase of us that we have dreamed the most as a couple. It has been really fun to allow that part of our relationship to grow. There is so much to look forward to, and planning for our wedding and all thats to come after has led to some really fun conversations about all that we hope to accomplish in the future as a married couple.

Tell us about your engagement session. Where did it take place?

Emily: Oh my stars, this was such an incredible day. It took place in downtown Franklin and at Harlinsdale Farm. We wanted some city type pictures, but also some beautiful sunset pictures and we got just that with these two locations. It was so fun exploring downtown Franklin and finding all of the unique spots that we will be able to revisit and remember that day. We were surprised by how much fun we had!

What’s the significance of the locations?

Emily: We really wanted the location of our engagement session to be in Tennessee. We moved to Nashville in January of 2019, and it has instantly felt like home. We are getting married back in our home state of Wisconsin, but really wanted to have a piece of TN with us throughout this process so we knew we wanted to take our engagement pictures here. We opted for downtown Franklin because we love how quaint it is and how friendly the people are. It’s a place we can go back to frequently and smile remembering this day!

What was it like working with your photographer?

Emily: Amazing. Larissa and Matt truly blew us away with not only how incredible they are at their craft, but also as humans. They gave us the space to be us; goofy, sometimes awkward, tender, and playful, and they captured that so beautifully. When we originally booked them, we loved the idea of two photographers as it captures two different perspectives. It was so fun looking back through our pictures and seeing all the creative ways they captured each moment in their own light, while still giving cohesion to the session. It made us SO excited for our wedding day. They are such a great team.

Would you recommend the photographer and why?

Emily: 100% yes. Of all the things we will be worried about/focused on during our wedding day/planning for it, our pictures will not be one of them. They are in the capable hands of Larissa and Matt and that give us such peace of mind!

Is there anything else you’d like to share with NBG readers?

Emily: Sometime we were reminded of early on is to not lose yourself or each other in the process of planning. Find your “stop, pause, joy” moments and celebrate them accordingly.

Congratulations on your upcoming wedding Emily and Noah! Huge thank you to these two along with Larissa Marie Photography for sharing this darling engagement session in Franklin!
