Chic Southern Charm Wedding Inspiration at Ravenswood Mansion

With a love for timeless details, a talented team of Nashville wedding professionals combined their talents into this chic southern charm wedding inspiration at Ravenswood Mansion. Ashley of Toney Consulting took the lead in planning the soft, romantic feel starting with a light and airy palette of blush pinks, muted oranges, ivory accents, and greenery. She recruited the help of White Ink Calligraphy to make the swoon-worthy stationery of which included a hand-drawn silhouette of the venue along which set the tone for the dreamy aesthetic that would ensue. A beautiful outdoor tablescape, textured floral designs, classic attire, and a vintage Bentley are all popping through in these incredible photos by Maria Gloer Photography. If you fancy Southern celebrations, this one surely won’t disappoint!

Tell us about the shoot vision.

Ashley: When I start drafting visions for annual shoots, I first look at current trends, trends that are coming down the pipeline, unique venues in the area, and how best we as a team can bring it to life. There is nothing small about my styled shoots. I want to showcase these vendors in their best light. So as I always say, we “throw a wedding, with no guests” in order to show couples what these vendors are really capable of.

What was the theme and what inspired it (e.g. farm, garden party, contemporary, modern, vintage etc.):?

Ashley: This was my first shoot in Nashville and so there was no other way to go than a traditional Chic Southern Charm look, inspired by seasonal floral and southern delicacies. I had never created anything like it and so I wanted a new challenge in a new city. Ravenswood Mansion is beautiful alone and lends itself as the perfect blank canvas to create any look.

What details were used to create the theme (color scheme, decor items, florals etc.)?

Ashley: When we think of Spring, we think of blush, crisp white, soft greens, and other seasonal floral. And so that’s what I went off of when starting the design for this beautiful shoot. My amazing florist, Danielle with Cali Roots Designs, brought in a variety of seasonal floral including our favorite, Magnolias. I laid a crisp white linen on our tablescape with soft mauve cheesecloth runners to provide texture and dimension. We brought in beautiful flatware, chargers, and plateware from Premier Event Rentals which tied in gold embellishments topped with a mauve cotton farmhouse napkin with fringed edges providing an additional element of texture and dimension to this beautiful tablescape. Please Be Seated helped complete the look with linen cane back chairs and mauve goblets. And of course you can’t go wrong with adding a variety of candles to enhance the overall look. Other amazing elements included a beautiful luxury lounge provided by Please Be Seated and a unique round bar facade displayed perfectly in front of Ravenswood Mansion lending to a beautiful backdrop and a central location for mix and mingling. When it came to the selection of bride and groom attire, I knew I wanted to keep it classic and traditional. I love a good trend, don’t get me wrong. But I think there is something so elegant and timeless about a classic gown and suit. So we went for a traditional sleek wedding gown from The Bride Room and paired her groom in a sleek suit with black pants and a crisp white suit coat with black lapels from JM Street Menswear & Tuxedos. Of course, these events take a village and so I’d be remiss to not mention the rest of our incredible vendors who joined to make this day a reality. Chavaun DeVoure with Studio DeVoure did a beautiful job providing hair and makeup styling for our bride. It was elegant and timeless, perfect for this classic day. Kelly Kloke with Sweet Things Bakery Nashville provided a unique 3-tiered wedding cake which we displayed inside the mansion and Danielle did her floral magic and enhanced the cake with beautiful floral embellishments. Claire White with White Ink Calligraphy did a magnificent job creating the stationery for this traditional styled shoot. She created a hand-drawn silhouette of Ravenswood Mansion on the invitation suite. I love a custom invitation suite and she hit the jackpot with that one. Claire also provided beautiful custom stationery for the tablescape. And the models were simply perfection. They were troopers in this Southern heat and really provided the final touch in making this shoot come to life.

Can you share any special moments or highlights of the day?

Ashley: By far the highlight of our day was the white vintage Bentley that Diane at Matchless Transportation was so gracious to lend for this styled shoot. As someone who had one of these vehicles for her own wedding day, I always love showcasing them at other events to show couples how much they can really enhance a wedding day. Not only do they lend to amazing photos, but they also provide a moment of privacy and peace for the couple on their wedding day in the middle of what can be a lot of chaos and movement on such a special day.

Were there any special requests or unique challenges that you had to work together to overcome (ie rain, etc)?

Ashley: The great thing about a styled shoot is that you can be flexible. Our original date was set for May to try and avoid busy season. Due to unforeseen circumstances, we had to reschedule. The rescheduled date ultimately was also rescheduled due to rain. Our final date was set and regardless of rain, we all just wanted to do it. So we didn’t reschedule and prayed hard for great weather and boy did the almighty bless us with a beautiful day. I cannot thank all of these vendors enough for being so gracious with all of the date changes and still making it work even though we had to reschedule right in the middle of wedding season. These vendors are rockstars and I cannot recommend them enough to couples. It says a lot about their commitment and dedication to creating beautiful events whether they are paid events or collaborations. They are people you’d certainly want on your wedding day.

A southern bride’s dream come true, right here! Huge thanks to Ashley and these local vendors for sharing this chic southern charm wedding inspiration at Ravenswood Mansion with us!
